Hi, I'm starting a new Play by Post campaign taking place in the Forgotten Realms. Here is some information you need to know about me as a DM:
I am a seasoned DM, I have only ever played D&D 5e, and I started about 2.5 years ago, but I know how to DM and every rule needed to DM is stored in my brain.
I like critical thinking and roleplay in players. If you just want to hack and slash, and do no roleplaying or puzzles or have no morality problems in games, I'm not the DM for you.
I own no content on D&D Beyond. I have every D&D 5e book physically, but I cannot share that content to you over D&D Beyond.
I like in depth character personalities and backstories. I will provide a link of an adequate D&D character information later.
Don't apply if you won't be able to frequently post.
Here is some information that you will need to make the characters:
Generate your characters with rolled stats (reroll ones once) or Standard Array if you roll worse than Standard Array. Alternatively, you can choose point buy, not rolling at all.
No homebrew (except mine). Blood Hunters are allowed, but only the newest version (obviously).
No Unearthed Arcana. If you really want to play an Unearthed Arcana subclass, ask me, and I will allow it. There are certain new UA that I consider too overpowered or underpowered, so I will not allow those. Just ask me, and I'll say yes or no.
If you have an idea not supported by the rules as of yet, ask me about it, and if I approve it, I will homebrew it.
Artificers are allowed.
Warforged, Kalashtar, Yuan-Ti Purebloods, Volo's Orcs, Loxodons, Grung, Vedalken, and Dragonmarked House Races are not allowed. (If you want to play one, if you give me a good reason why you should be able to, I will likely allow you). Any other race from any other official material is able to be used in this campaign.
If you want to play a strange race, ask me, and I will homebrew it for you (example, half-dwarf, or half goliath-half orc and other such races)
The Heroic Chronicle (modified for Forgotten Realms) will be used to generate backstories. If you don't have the Explorer's Guide to Wildemount, that is fine, I have it physically.
Don't make your backstory before submitting your character idea to me on this thread. You can provide a small snippet of your backstory and personality just to give me an idea.
We will play with between 4 and 6 characters.
Here is some information about the setting of the game:
The game will take place in 1495 DR, in my Forgotten Realms, which has some information you will learn about my home campaigns.
The game will start in Waterdeep, which just finished rebuilding from a recent calamity (we'll discuss this as well if I choose you)
The Yawning Portal has been destroyed, and Durnan is dead. Undermountain is also destroyed, but Skullport is still there, just a bit more damaged.
The events of Tyranny of Dragons, Storm King's Thunder, Princes of the Apocalypse, Tomb of Annihilation, Waterdeep Dragonheist, and Waterdeep Dungeon of the Mad Mage, and Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus have passed.
This is one year since the happenings of Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus, and Zariel has been redeemed, and Bel and his lieutenant have taken her place as the ruler of Avernus. Unfortunately, the heroes that rescued Elturel died or fell in the process, so they are not around today, and if they are still alive, they are in the Nine Hells.
I hope to get some admissions soon. The game will start as soon as all the players are chosen and their backstories made.

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
Race: Half-Elf Class: Warlock, Hexblade Background: Folk Hero Brief Backstory/personality: He's a simple villager who stumbled upon an ancient temple to a long forgotten war deity. Hearing the fading voice of this deity he has taken it as his destiny to revive it as a major deity again, being granted the remnants of its power to accomplish this. Has a habit of leaving little wood carvings of his deity's symbol lying around. (Not so much naive as uneducated with a simplistic view of things at times. Very focused on his chosen destiny, and since war gods are proven in battle, ready made reason to take up the role of an "adventurer". Also, gives easy explanation for power growth as deity's power returns.)
If you'd like any more detail or have any questions/concerns, let me know. Have fun!
I’ve got a feral tiefling I’d like to put into play. The class I chose was Barbarian and I would like the subclass to be Path of the Beast from UA. If you don’t approve it, I’ll change a few things around. I took point buy scores
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Abilities: Ability scores: 121412111115
Name: Zook Fiddlefen
Race: Forest Gnome
Class: Monk
Brief Background/Personality: Alastair Pickwibble Zook Fiddlefen, or Zook, as he prefers to be called, lived a quiet, unassuming life in the forests of the Western Heartlands. He was typical of his fellow gnomes: good natured, full of life and humor, with a love for music, nature and animals. He’s always had pets, usually mice, voles and small birds who lived in his pocket, or on his shoulder, and is forever stopping to watch, and even converse with forest animals whenever he encounters them. He’s also very good at whittling and woodcarving, and in fact, carves his own flutes.
When he reached maturity, his natural curious nature led him to leave his home and go explore other places. Having lived a rather sheltered life, Zook, was struck by the vastly different lifestyles that most folks in the world live, and also by the high number of dangers, threats and unkind acts that many people face from monsters as well as bandits and other unsavory types.
Become disillusioned with the world and faced with lingering questions about the meaning of life itself, Zook left society and began a long life of seclusion at the monastery. He spent the next twenty years living in relative solitude away from the dangers and evils of the world, training his body and mind, seeking to attain a level of perfection and enlightenment within himself. At some point, Zook once again began facing thoughts of dissolution. It seeemd as if the closer he felt he got towards perfection, the further away it seemed. It also occurred to him that his highly improved skills and focused mind were being wasted. What’s the use of possessing such skills if they weren’t actually being used for any specific purposes, namely helping people.
After a long period of contemplation, Zook left the monastery and wandered back towards society, with the aim to help as many people as possible, while still seeking to attain enlightenment, personal perfection and discover the meeting of life.
(DM, I’ve tried to give you a somewhat detailed personality, but a rather open-ended background with very few specifics. There’s a lot of room here for development. Let me know if you need more or less and I can adjust accordingly.)

If you really want to play a lycanthrope based subclass, I'd suggest Order of the Lycan Blood Hunter, but if you really want to be the barbarian subclass, make a reason why your character would be like that. The game starts at level one, so you won't choose it right away, but we'll see how it works out. If you don't want to be a blood hunter, and just be a barbarian, I will allow Beast Barbarian. It is more balanced than a few of the other UA subclasses that have came out recently.

You’ve seen Clockwork Soul sorcerer, I assume.
As for Beast subclass, I imagined him being an enforcer of sorts for a gang. Being “feral” combined with the savagery of the subclass just kind of clicked for me. Order of the Lycan isn’t exactly what I was imagining for the character, but if you don’t approve Beast, I can change it.
Sandrina was trapped in the Feywild for part of her life, treated as a pet by the Seelie court and Oberon, the man who seemed to 'own' her before she managed to escape. She's a kindhearted individual who doesnt like to see anything or anyone injured. She has a crippling fear of forests.
Secondary Character Idea:
Name: Faerieth Race: Firbolg Class: Druid (Going Circle of Dreams)
I had forgot they made this so easy. I will happily work with you to meld the character into your vision of the Forgotten Realms. The basic idea is a Vedalken Graviturgist, Lawful Neutral who studies Graviturgy as a means of studying and understanding the very laws of existence better.
Discovered in the battlefields of the War of the Silver Marches ( During the last battle where high level magic allowed the Dwarven armies to travel great distances, this allowed the character to slip through) and reactivated by a wizard from Silvery Moon, he seeks to prove himself to the wizard by seeking out rare materials and components.

(Sorry, just a quick correction, I am not allowing Vedalken unless you have a really good reason why to have one in the forgotten realms.)

Seeking your approval.
I made a list of races that I will not be accepting unless you have really good reasons for playing it. Warforged is one of those races. I also don't allow UA, unless you have a really good reason for it.

Fair enough. Would a Githzerai work, flavoring most of his spells (purely flavor not changing how they work mechanically of course) as harnessing their psionics but similar backstory/reason for being a wizard? And if not then a Human Variant would be fine as well.

Githzerai are allowed. You'd have to make a reason with being on the Material Plane, but that would work, and Limbo fits the flavor of Graviturgists.

Bio: A white Dragonborn who embraces the savage beastial nature of his white dragon ancestors. When his tribe was scattered to the wind after an ill advised raid on a merchant caravan, he joined a mercenary group to make ends meet. (I have more details available if I’m accepted)
Class: Wizard. (Divination or Evo) Might go toward Cleric of Mystra or Azuth if they are in your Homebrew for a level or two
Race: Human (Or else )
Backstory: Used The Heroic Chronicle on one of my characters and really liked it. I have the books and a DM subscription so I ll be able to share a few books.
On a side not of the Heroic Chronicle system there is a alternative way to decide the race. I ll see with you if you want to use that instead.
My idea was to have a character going for Magister. Followers of the Gods of Magic who teach and leave spells (cantrips ) to promote magic and find new casters.

Ability Scores: (After racial): 12/16/15/13/16/17
Name: Fen
Race: Changeling (corrected from Shifter)
Class: Rogue (going into Mastermind or Inquisitive)
Background and backstory: I have always hidden in plain sight. Sometimes I am boastful and brash and at other times I am shy and timid. My personality, gender and the way I present tends to change as the circumstances prescribe. I have learned that being able to adapt is profitable and helps to keep me out of trouble and safe.
I was born and bred in the Gate to a reasonably well to do family involved in hospitality and the theatre (Baldur’s Gate, Entertainer).
