most dms use point by stats or ask everyone to roll stats in game. Your stats are pretty good and it looks suspect.
Starting with 5 feats is also kind of high. at level 2 you should have at max 2 (racial + a homebrew rule free feat{check with dm first})
and Id also check your hand picked equipment a bag of holding and almost every weapon. some dms are generous with equipment but assuming you start with it is slightly presumptuous.
PHB favored enemies are also kind of dm dependent if your not careful. I like the goblin style theme but if your dm wants to go to Avernus it may not work for you. that would be replaced if you take tasha's not added on top.
In order to activate tasha's content you have to have access to it (purchase it, or have campaign sharing on from someone who has purchased tashas on dndbeyond). Then on the home page of the builder screen you need to turn on optional content. then make selections on the class page(note: subclass comes at lvl3 for rangers). there will be a optional features tab right under the class title. use that to turn on the options you want.
If you just want to read phb or tasha's they are under the sources part of the web page.
What's wrong with that character is that it's impossible to do it with the actual rules.
On the other hand, if your DM allows you to play that at lvl1, I imagine the creatures you're going to be facing are going to be accordingly. If not, the game will not present any challenge.
To advance, he will have to give you insanely powerful magic items to maintain a progression and have rivals to match. And that's because that character has such high stats, and 5 feats on top, that there isn't much room for improvement beyond what the subclass gives you.
In my opinion, and no offense intended, that character is childish and has little to do with a real D&D character. If you play that, well, it's up to you. But character design in D&D has rules for a good reason.
I've purchased phb and tasha's and it says I already own them but I can't open them as well as all of the freebies they gave me. I've had this fixed for me a couple of months ago but it even worse now. I have not yet subscribed I hope that's not part of the problem.
My character trained for 8 years with the Elves until I reached 20 at just in time for me to get banished. My human mother assisted me with everything I would need to head out on my own and to search for my beast friend "Sharna". She was only 10 when she was stolen by the orcs. i kept training for the next 10 years while searching for her. I decided to join a group of adventures to keep my talents and skills as best i could.
That's why all the weapons and high stats. 18 years of training and searching.
There must be a place for my character.
Thanks for being the only one to respond.
P.s. I really did roll those stats even if it took me over 100 times to get something to be proud of and I would never cheat. i would only be cheating myself.
subscription shouldn't be the issue, if everything you said was accurate.
modern campaigns you roll once and that is what you use to build your character . if you want to reroll starting stats in a video game go ahead but at trying again is not done at most tables(over 90% consider that cheating).
modern builds are done with the group. the story is formed as a group. but narrative comes after mechanics not before. This is what is referred to as "session zero."
if you already own tasha's the optional feature problem is in the editor/character builder. https://imgur.com/4Ngpe1e
I hope the image helps i just made it quick and its not very good.
That's why all the weapons and high stats. 18 years of training and searching.
Did your DM agree to that? You can't really just decide that your character's backstory is that he's better than every other level 1 character, otherwise it defeats the point of starting at level 1, and only encourages an arms race with your fellow players, who will decide in their backstory that actually their character is a literal god so should be equipped with artefacts and have 30 for every ability score. 😝
I'm playing in a campaign where one of my characters is actually a dragon, but for balance purposes he's cursed and hiding his true nature in the form of an ordinary dragonborn; when he hits level 17 (high enough for true polymorph) or I decide to write him out of the campaign, only then will he actually be a dragon again (of the appropriate challenge rating). This keeps things balanced, fun and challenging.
You really need to have a group playing on the same level or the game just isn't going to be fun.
P.s. I really did roll those stats even if it took me over 100 times to get something to be proud of and I would never cheat. i would only be cheating myself.
Rolling 100 times is cheating unless your DM said "roll as many times as you want"; rolled stats are rolled once, but you roll four d6, six times, discarding the lowest d6 of each group of four and then assign each result to the score you want so that you can get rid of some of the randomness. It's not uncommon for DM's to allow a re-roll if your total (of all six scores) is below some minimum, but they'll tell you what their house rule(s) are.
That said, I personally hate rolled stats; I've had too many characters with crappy stats in older editions to use anything other than point buy or standard array now, as it's just so much fairer for everyone. Likewise for average hit-points; rolling for HP is how you wind up with Wizards with more hit-points than your Barbarian, the game's random enough IMO, there's no need for character building/levelling to be random too. But this is me just ranting on why I don't like using these methods. 😉
But yeah, unless your DM has said you can roll as much as you want, and take any gear that you want, and to take five feats, then you really need to talk to them first; because otherwise you need to roll once following the rules to the letter (or use points buy if your DM says to use that etc.), you should only have the basic starting equipment, and you shouldn't have any feats at all unless you go variant human or custom lineage.
If you don't feel that 1st-level is letting you build the character you want, talk to your DM; I'm a huge fan of starting games at 3rd-level with one free feat, as this makes it a lot easier to establish your character from the beginning, so it's worth asking your DM and fellow players if they're okay with something like that as an option, but keep in mind that this is better for more experienced players who've built characters before. An alternative is that you build 1st-level characters, try to agree a compromise on backstories so the party can run a session or two in an "inexperienced" state, and then bump the level up to third once that's finished (e.g- your character wasn't done training, but later returns to complete it for the level bump).
Basically I don't like 1st-level; it's fine when you're starting out, or when playing something like Strixhaven where everybody starts out as 1st year students, but otherwise it just makes it harder to build the character you want. 😝

In short, everything is wrong with this character.
Your stats are godly overpowered, and as you stated, you rolled them over and over again, that is not how the rules explain how stats are created. You have 5 feats, where your class and race would start with 0 You have an insanely amount of gear, worth several 1000's gold,(including a warhorse and young silver dragon) as a ranger, you start with only 5d4 * 10 Gold worth of gear, plus a small amount from background, typically no more than 50 gold.
So basicly, if I was the DM, I would have you make the character all over, properly rolled stats, no extra feats, no extra gear.
All the training you are referring to from you background, that is the reason you start at level 1 in the first place, and is not just another commoner.
Thankyou for all your input. Changing levels would be fine from my point of view. I thought the character generator was keeping track of thee number of feats along with anything else with limitations.
I have watched almost everything I could on Youtube and there was one video that mention re-rolling stats but then decided to keep it just the way it was which gave me the idea of re-rolling in the first place. If it came down to that it would be fine if my back round would remain untouched since it is a big part of my characters make up.
I don't have a DM yet and if there is any DM up to the challenge of me getting a good head start I would appreciate it very much even if it were only for a short time each week. Things have changer so much over the past 40 years. Even the way we roll stats ... we used use the UA rules rolling up to 9D6 for stats that required highest for Magic User vs, Fighter for example. Still it would seem tricky to lower a DEX or STR for someone whos been training for 18 years. Well obviously to a smart DM he or she would have to know alot more than me. Which is almost everyone playing now.
I tried to submit a ticket for all if the missing books but I must have failed in getting it to the right person. I you could tell how to do that it would be great, but trying to find a DM seems difficult to do. Any assist on that would be great!
Well, if it's not really a playable character, I don't know what you want us to tell you. It is as if you design a feature called "kill", and if you roll 1 or more on a D20, you kill the opponent. That exist? No. Is it a D&D mechanic? No. But since he's a non-playable character, well, no one cares.
The only thing we can tell you is that this character does not follow the D&D character creation rules. And that it has nothing to do with a level 1 D&D character. No DM who knows what he's doing is going to let you play that, because he's going to blow the game up.
So I obviously desperately need a 1 on 1 with a DM willing to take the time to create a scaled down character. I'd hate to just delete him. I took two days just to get the name the way I liked it.
I'd need at least PHB and Tasha's books and extra benefits available again. I also mentioned that I was having trouble sending my request to the right people (SUBMIT TICKET) any help with that would be greatly appreciate it.

The D&D Beyond support system has changed since their acquisition by Wizards of the Coast so there may be a few extra hoops to jump through now, the basic site you want is https://dndbeyond-support.wizards.com/hc/en-us
This has various knowledge base articles for common problems, but what you want is the "My Requests" button in the top right which will (eventually) get you to the ticketing system to submit a new request for help.
You'll need a Wizards of the Coast account if you don't already have one, and you should probably link it to your D&D Beyond account though this might not be a necessary step (you should be okay as long as you can tell the support staff your D&D Beyond username and/or e-mail address.

Appears that I need to redeem a code to complete sharing info between Wizards and my dnd beyond info. Account is confirmed and I copied the link they recommended but it leads me back to enter the code. I getting lost again. Please help so I can restore books and links.
I know this is petty but I don't know anyone else to ask to get this accomplished.
I'm afraid I don't remember what the process of linking the accounts was like so I can't help you there; the trouble you're having with the site and book content might make more sense as its own thread in Bugs & Support, as there will usually be more moderators hanging around there that might be able to help, plus there might be some users who've actually used the new support portal who can help you.
I'd keep the thread as simple as possible, i.e- mention that you think you should be seeing book content, and how you obtained it (did you buy it yourself or was it shared with you?), then say you've tried to submit a support ticket but couldn't link or verify your account. Don't give any personal info (moderators should be able to find what they need from your username), just the basics of the problem should be enough.

At 1st level you should have 0 feats, but you have 5. To put that in perspective, 19th level is when rangers get their fifth feat. To put it in even more perspective, most campaigns nowadays end in the level 10-13 range, where you would have 2 or maybe 3. There are some DM's who house rule that everyone starts with a feat. But you're better off removing them all, and then adding one in if you're allowed. Showing up with 5 is going to get people looking at you with the side-eye. Side note: weapon master is terrible. You're already proficient in all of the weapons, and there's ways to get the +1 to an ability score that will actually give you a useful benefit.
No way will you be allowed to have a silver dragon mount at level 1. Probably not ever, certainly not at level 1. Honestly, considering a warhorse costs 400gp, you won't have one of those at level 1, either.
It would be a generous DM who would allow a bag of holding at level 1. I suppose they may exist, but they're going to be pretty rare.

Try and read through the player handbooks again. Also if a dragon is important to your concept there's a ranger build that eventually can ride a dragon companion(drakewarden from fisban's)
Xetheron : Do you have discord and a microphone on your computer?
I haven't used discord yet, someone told me to stay out of discord. I can't figure out how to change my feats. I'm 57 and do not a appreciate the cheater comments. I believed thru a you tube comment that it was ok to reroll - I took it to literally.
I used the built in Pay/Point or whatever it's called to straighten out stats. And I do wish to thanks everyone for their help.
Oh, and yes I have a mic in headset.
If you were thinking of doing a voice chat as DM to Player sometime or day I would love it. Sending texts back and forth doesn't really get what I intended for this character to become and why I chose him and letting a DM know what started this mess to begin with.
Please let me know if you can or really if any DM or two can.
Please think about it ... it shouldn't be that long of a time to straighten me out. I'm not really sure what Homebrew is for or for whom(DM"S or characters by themselves.
I've spent 3 months trying to get it just right after starting with the original DND EXPERT and 2nd addition up till now.
I believe I have most of it right but Tasha's additions which was what cliched the Beast Master Ranger for me.
This character is a amalgam may People, Movies, and books I am familiar with.
Having trouble opening PBH and Tasha's but I was hoping it would work enough to start playing.
The back round info just poured out as I would like it to become a campaign some day.
I DM'd more that played back in the old times. I just want to feel welcome.
