I’m unsure if this has been answered or not but I’m confused about the gloomstalker’s extra attack. The ranger itself gets an extra attack at level five, so does the gloomstalker, so does this mean you get three attacks per turn? Also stacked with dread ambush this would mean you can make four attacks at level five for the first round of combat, and three for the rest of the combat. Me and my DM agree that this is propbably too powerful to be a mechanic, so do the extra attacks not stack or can I really take four attacks on the first turn in a round?
No need to reply, me and my DM agreed that it’s fair to get three attacks the first round then two the rest of the time. Anyway I’m fairly sure that’s how the extra attack works
Just replying for reference, in case others find this thread when searching - you're correct in that the Dread Ambusher feature from Gloom Stalker subclass does indeed "stack" with the Extra Attack feature from the Ranger class.
I think the confusion comes from where you read the different abilities. You find the correct official gloomstalker in Xanatars guide, where it doesnt get that ability.
If you read it as part of the revised ranger is shows this ability because the revised ranger doesnt automatically get an extra attack.
A gloomstalker can thus make 2 attacks normally, and 3 in the first round.
