I'm building a lizardfolk PC for my group's new campaign (dungeon of the mad mage)
My character concept has changed a few times, started off cleric, then cleric/druid, then cleric/ranger now I'm thinking ranger/druid.
The original idea was more of a witch doctor type but I struggled to flesh out the personality into something I'd enjoy playing. I want to go the spell sword play style of battle axe/giant meat cleaver in one hand while blasting spells with the other. I know ranger's not the most favoured class out there but I'd like to give it a go as I think it fits the character well. He's going to be a lizardfolk who's obsessed with proving he's at the top of the food chain and wants to prove it by slaying/eating one of everything he comes across. Favoured land would be swamp, subclass would be hunter. But to up his spellcasting I want to multi-class into druid. Circle of land-swamp is the obvious choice but having never played either class before I'm not sure if there's strong synergy there or does it overlap and fall flat?
I'm not looking for anything min/maxed but I also don't want to build something that's gonna be a bogged down with contradictions. I also like characters with versatility and a few tricks up their sleeve.
I've settled on gloomwalker 5/ spore druid 2. I'm picturing someone who will rig areas with traps and poisons before ambushing out of concealment and going berserk, hacking and blasting.

Circle of moon might work. But sounds cool.
'The Cleverness of mushrooms always surprises me!' - Ivern Bramblefoot.

Ranger/Druid redundant. No.
ranger/rogue scout. Yes.
Blank
Lizard folk hunter ranger/moon druid would be cool!
Hunter has great combat abilities that work in beast form and the lizard folk have a bonus action bite attack that would as well.
