What kind of save would one have to make against a spell that rips your soul from your body, and what kind of damage would such a spell do.
The spell is called; Soul Extraction, and it rips your soul from your body. When combined with another spell "Soul Absorption," the caster is able to rip the soul from an oponants body and absorb it into themselves, using it to bolster their HP with temporary hit points.
The enemy who has had its soul extracted, can be raised as an undead minion. So that means that the Necromancer who uses Soul Extraction, not only bolsters their own HP pool by using the extracted soul, but is also gains an undead ally that they control.
I am thinking a CON save, with the soul being extracted on a failed save and Necrotic damage on a successful save.
Also, if you have any other comments or thoughts about these two spells, then please feel free to leave them too and I will read them all.
Charisma is usually the "I'm staying here whether you like it or not." stat. Things like Plane Shift require it so I would agree with FoxfireInferno. And Necrotic damage seems a given.
Intelligence, Wisdom = Mind Strength, Dexterity, Constitution = Body Charisma = Soul

Necrotic damage feels weird to me, mostly because I know necrosis is basically the rotting of the flesh, but there's no soul-specific damage type, but it at least seems to be consistent with other effects in the game.

Necrotic seems to be soul specific in the PHB:
Necrotic. Necrotic damage, dealt by certain undead and a spell such as chill touch, withers matter and even the soul.

A caffeinated nerd who has played TTRPGs or a number of years and is very much a fantasy adventure geek.
According to the DMG page 238, Charisma seems to be the 'soul stat', as opposed to Wisdom's 'mind stat', so I'd go Charisma.
Necrotic damage seems as good as anything.

Definitely Charisma. It's the save you use to avoid possession, banishment, etc.

I was thinking Necrotic as being closest to Necromancy which has a lot of soul affecting spells.
I feel it’s a damage that can rot the flesh but also the soul depending on the spell.
