So I have a character (Marcus) who's ex-husband haunts them as a ghost. I added the Ex as a ghost under 'sidekick' in the character sheet. Since it seemed like the best way to add them to the game mechanically. However, I was curious about what other people have done with ghosts and hauntings in their game? What kind of mechanics have you used or added?
This ghost's character is mostly there to taunt and be an ******* to Marcus, so I don't need to use any real mechanics as it serves mostly a roleplay function. I was just curious about others' experiences and wondered if maybe there was more I could be doing with this.
For anyone curious about the backstory here- Marcus Rudd, a changeling now posing as a human, used to be Triin Dilahk [half-elf] married to Folen Dilahk [half-elf] for nearly 7 years. They were a veritable power couple in their bard's guild, practically running the operation themselves. Eventually, Folen was made out to be a cheater and one of his lovers killed him after finding out. Everyone in the guild blamed Triin, while she was not officially charged as having no evidence against her she was heavily shunned and harassed. With that, and finding that Folen was following her a ghost. Triin burned the guild house down to the ground and fled off with a new identity, hoping now Folen would be gone for good and she could move on with a new life. Obviously Folen is still floating around, and just generally being an ass about it. So Marcus's goal now is to find a way to revive Folen and kill him themself, or at least rid the ghost for good. Whichever is easier.
Just want to point out that haunted ones are not (necessarily) literally haunted by a ghost. It is basically PTSD. So most other players have never had to use mechanics for their character being haunted.
Yeah I do realize that haunted one backgrounds don't tend to be literal ghosts, but I figured some people have used regular ghosts before. I suppose it's just more uncommon than I original thought.
Ah yes, as the souls of one are represented by the many items they equip, and the same for the existence of the universe in it's many ways and forms! No?

The added mechanical complexity is because a sidekick is a specific mechanic introduced in the Dragon of Icespire Peak adventure.

Has anyone noticed that the Haunted one starts the game with only 1sp. Do they have PTSD because they got mugged? Or is this a misprint?
I believe it's symbolic - a single, silver coin.
