First off, I'd like to state that the circumstances for this is quite strange. Also, there will be some minor spoilers for Out of the Abyss.
I am DMing OotA in the future, and my player has asked me if he can play a Kalashtar warlock with amnesia. Basically, I will create his character for him (background, personality, spells, etc) and the player will "discover" everything as he goes through the campaign, discovering his power and reason for amnesia. This is my current best plan for the whole thing, but I really need some advice/tips for this. I'm a relatively new DM and have never heard of this kind of thing before. We have a lot of the mechanics already setup but I really want to get a good story for the player to discover.
My current idea is that the character (named Nemo) will have lived in the Underdark as a farmer and escaped slave from the Drow, searching for a way out and finding a bit of comfort at his new home. Nemo was foraging near his house and ran into some wild giant spiders. To escape them, he had to run through a patch of faerzress, which was actually infected by the Demon Lord Graz'zt. Basically, Nemo's mind was being overrun with madness but his Quori interviene to save him. It 1) removed almost all memory of the incident and 2) was itself infected, causing it to gain power that it can use to influence/empower Nemo (fiend warlock). The downside is that the Quori is being corrupted and will eventually cause the destruction of both Nemo and his Quori.
However Nemo doesn't remember any events, other than some fabrication his mind created to give him some semblance of order and reason in his newly-distraught perception of the world. He is going into the Underdark both naked and afraid, with the feeling that other beings are pulling the strings for their own machinations.
