I'm working on a glass cannon melee build designed to be the ideal ambusher, luring enemies in before acting as quickly as possible to take down priority targets like spellcasters. I chose Bugbear to pick up Surprise Attack and Long-Limbed for some extra damage and extra range. I'm planning to start with 5 levels in Ranger to grab the Gloom Stalker subclass so as to be effectively invisible in darkness and all the bonuses from Dread Ambusher. For spells, I chose Ensnaring Strike, Fog Cloud, and Hunter's Mark. The extra two levels are for Extra Attack. I then plan to put 12 levels into Rogue as an Assassin for the obvious Sneak Attack and Assassinate along with the many other powerful features they get. Finally, I'm planning to go 3 levels into Champion Fighter to snag Action Surge and Improved Critical. For feats, I'm planning on Alert, Great Weapon Master, Savage Attacker, Lucky, and Skulker. We're rolling stats and I got an 18, which I put in Strength, 15, which I put in Dexterity, 13, which I put in Constitution, 8, which I put in Intelligence, 14, which I put in Wisdom, and 11, which I put in Charisma. We're requesting the DM for items we want throughout the game, so I asked for Mithral Half Plate to help AC, a Greatsword of Warning to get another Initiative bonus, a Cloak of Elvenkind to sneak better, and ultimately a Belt of Storm Giant Strength for raw damage.
I'm just looking for any tips or strategies I'm missing out on to maximize this build. Here is the link for the build at first level and here it is for my ideal version of it.
I hate to do this to your build (which is otherwise pretty good, though the feat quantity seems excessive), but you can’t use Sneak Attack with a greatsword - only a finesse or ranged weapon will qualify for Sneak Attack. You could use a rapier but still use Strength, though I think you’d be better off just putting that 18 in Dex.

Paladin main who spends most of his D&D time worldbuilding or DMing, not Paladin-ing.
