I've been planning ahead for what characters I want to play and the next one will probably be a Bladelock. The Hexblade features sound great, but I already have a fun backstory written for The Fiend which also has features that also sound fun. Does Hexblade overshadow a Fiend Bladelock?
The plan is for a Dex-based Bladelock with the Moderately Armored feat to use a shield and finesse weapon. The goblin player race fits my backstory and the Dex +2, Con +1 and Nimble Escape features have great synergy with the build. Does that make sense?
As long as you pick up the Improved Pact Weapon and Thirsting Blade invocations you'll be fine.
If you're using the standard array, I'd put the 15 on DEX, so you can start with 17 and reach +4 when you take Moderately Armored.
Be very mindful of components when learning spells. Without the War Caster feat, you won't be able to cast spells that have an S component but no M component if both of your hands are full. Pay special attention if those spells have a casting time of 1 reaction, (like Hellish Rebuke or Counterspell) since you won't be able to cast them unless your DM allows you to drop your weapon as part of the reaction (which is reasonable, but not backed by any rules). For spells with a casting time of 1 action or 1 bonus action, you can put away the weapon as an object interaction on your turn to cast them, but you'll be weaponless for opportunity attacks.
I also think it is viable. As I wrote in other threads I find the final version of the Hexblade rather underwhelming, the main reason being that the Warlock can use the Curse on only one creature per short rest and is still limited to one encounter per short rest when reaching level 14. That makes him much more "Blade" than "Hex". A very good feature is Hex Warrior but the other features of the Hexblade are mediocre at best. Especially compared to the Fiend, whose feats are all at least good imho.
If you go Dex I would think about the Armor of Shadows Invocation (ditching Medium Armor and freeing a feat). With Mage Armor you are at AC 18 when you reach Dex 20. Depends on the Build though.
If you focus on spells that buff you and your allies, then you really do not need that high of a Charisma. I would focus on your Dexterity, then your Constitution, and then your Charisma and run the character like a rogue/paladin. You can run in, hit hard and run out.

Sounds decent, which is perfectly sufficient in most 5e games (except for published adventures).
