+1 on attacks and damage rolls. The blade of this longsword is solid black, but the handle appears chromatic and shifts in color as moved. A dragon curls around the end of the handle, scales carefully etched. Five scales appears to be missing, in its spot a carved out holding place. When a dragon scale is placed in the handle, the sword gains a +2 attack and 2d6 points of necrotic damage against that dragon type/color. The necrotic damage hits regardless of resistance. In addition, the wielder has resistance against that dragon’s damage type. When all five colors (or 4 slots/colors for metallic dragons) are filled, the sword gains the following abilities:
- Resistance to elemental damage caused by all color (or metal) dragons
- Blindsight for 30 feet while fighting dragons
- Once per long rest, the wielder can attempt to reflect the damage from the dragon’s breath back on itself. Wielder makes a DC 15 Constitution Saving Throw. On a success, the wielder takes no damage and the dragon takes 1/2 the damage that the wielder would have taken.
- Once per long rest, for 1 minute: the sword bypasses all of the dragon’s resistances to nonmagical, magical weapon, or elemental resistances. On each hit, the dragon must succeed on a DC 17 Constitution Save or be weakened until the end of its next turn (disadvantage on strength checks/saves and attacks). Each time the weapon hits the dragon, the wielder must roll a D6. If the wielder rolls a 1, then the sword loses all magical dragon-fighting abilities until the next morning.
Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
