Forged from threads of reality itself by an unknown primordial entity, this armor pulses with unpredictable magical energy. Its form subtly shifts with the wearer's will, allowing it to manifest as any kind of armor — from light to heavy — depending on the needs of the moment.
Base Properties:
-
Shapechange: As an action, the wearer can change the form of the Aetherwoven Carapace to any type of armor (light, medium, or heavy). AC adjusts accordingly (treat it as the best possible version of that type — e.g., studded leather, half-plate, or plate).
-
Attunement Requirement: Any class may attune.
Legendary Powers:
Each dawn, the armor gains 2 random properties from the list below, lasting until the next dawn:
-
Voidstep – Once per short rest, you can teleport up to 30 feet as a bonus action, leaving behind a faint shimmer.
-
Temporal Lag – Attackers suffer disadvantage on their first attack against you each round.
-
Reactive Ward – Gain +2 AC until the start of your next turn when hit (1/long rest).
-
Elemental Bloom – When hit by a melee attack, the armor pulses with elemental force. Roll 1d4:
-
1: Fire (2d6)
-
2: Cold (2d6)
-
3: Lightning (2d6)
-
4: Acid (2d6).
Attacker takes the damage.
-
-
Phantom Echo – Once per long rest, when reduced to 0 HP, remain at 1 HP instead and become incorporeal until your next turn.
-
Gravitic Shield – Project a shield of force that grants resistance to non-magical bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing for 1 minute (1/long rest).
-
Celestial Ward – You regain 10 HP whenever you succeed on a saving throw against a spell (once per short rest).
-
Mimic Field – You gain the passive benefits of any one magic item within 60 feet (DM’s choice) for 1 hour (1/day).
Curse:
The Aetherwoven Carapace feeds on probability. If you fail three saving throws in a single day, the armor locks into one random form and effect for 24 hours — and the wearer cannot remove it unless Greater Restoration is cast.
The breastplate and shoulder protectors of this armor are made of leather that has been stiffened by being boiled in oil. The rest of the armor is made of softer and more flexible materials.

Really cool item! I love the idea of rotating effects, definitely going to be using that myself.
I think the locking mechanism is amazing. how did you come up with it.
