This gleaming guitar hums with a resonance that feels older than mortal memory. Its polished body seems carved from wood that never grew in the Material Plane, its lacquer shifting in color like oil on water. The strings shimmer silver under moonlight, but gleam gold at dawn, as though no two performances ever sound the same.
When strummed, the Strata-Caster does more than make music — it conjures visions. Petals of impossible flowers drift on invisible breezes, phantom laughter curls around the melody, and sometimes shadows of Fey creatures can be glimpsed dancing just beyond the edge of the stage lights. To mortal ears, the sound is intoxicating; to the Fey, it is a beacon, drawing their gaze no matter how far away they might be.
Legends say the Strata-Caster was first gifted by the trickster archfey, Feynder who loved mortals’ music but loved their chaos even more. Every chord strummed is both a blessing and a gamble: one night the crowd weeps in joy, the next they riot with reckless abandon. The bard who holds it can captivate kings, charm beasts, and even shape the emotions of an army — but in the wrong moment, a single sour note may invite Fey mischief, wild magic, or the archfey’s laughter echoing through the hall.
-
Fey Glamour. While attuned, you gain advantage on Charisma (Performance) and Charisma (Persuasion) checks. Your music carries the scent of spring blossoms, drifting motes of light, or other subtle Feywild illusions.
-
Chords of Enchantment. When you begin a performance, choose one effect (DC = your Spell Save DC):
-
Siren’s Melody: Each creature of your choice within 60 ft. makes a Wisdom save or is Charmed until your music stops.
-
Raucous Riff: Once per performance, you may cast Thunderwave at 3rd level without expending a spell slot.
-
Harmonies of Renewal: Expend a Bardic Inspiration die to heal each ally within 30 ft. for the number rolled + your Charisma modifier.
-
-
Awakening. If the bard completes a Feywild bargain, the Strata-Caster may awaken, gaining the Strings of the Fey power: once per long rest, cast Mass Suggestion without a spell slot. But each use demands a favor owed to a Feylord.
-
Encore. If you end a performance with a flourish (at least 1 minute), roll a d6. On a 6, the Feywild itself answers: pixies, satyrs, or illusory fireworks appear for 1 hour, lifting morale. Allies gain temporary hit points equal to your Bardic Inspiration die.
-
Drawbacks
-
Unwanted Audience. The Feywild hears every performance you make with this instrument. The DM may introduce Fey creatures (friendly, mischievous, or hostile) who take interest in your music.
-
Capricious Strings. When you roll a natural 1 on a Performance check while using the Strata-Caster, roll on the Wild Magic Surge table as if you had cast a spell.
-
Trickster’s Claim. If you ever go three consecutive days without performing on the Strata-Caster, it resents neglect. The next time you play it, roll a d20:
-
On a 1–5, the audience perceives your performance in the worst possible light, regardless of your roll.
-
On a 20, the Feywild blesses your performance — advantage on all Charisma checks for 24 hours.

Notes: Advantage: Performance, Advantage: Persuasion, Bonus: Hit Points, Bonus: Temporary Hit Points, Charmed, Wondrous Item, Legendary (requires attunement by a bard)
