Origin: The name comes from an old draconic dialect, whispered among wyrm-hunters. “Zarveth” translates roughly as “scale-cutter” — a weapon meant to shear through the armor of dragons.
Appearance:
-
The haft is dark, scarred wood bound with iron bands etched with crude draconic runes.
-
The axehead is massive, blackened and pitted as if quenched in dragon’s fire.
-
Along its edge are faint crimson stains that never seem to wash away, as though the weapon itself remembers every drop of dragon blood it has spilled.
-
Tiny fragments of scorched scale are embedded near the base of the blade, trophies hammered into the steel.
Legend:
It is said that every time Zarveth strikes true against a dragon, the sound it makes is not the ring of steel, but a low, guttural roar — as if the weapon carries within it the voices of every wyrm it has slain. Among dragon cults, the mere mention of Zarveth is considered blasphemy, for the axe is a symbol of rebellion against draconic dominion.
