Wondrous Item, legendary (requires attunement)

The Amulet of the Bound Watcher resembles a simple, slightly scratched wrought-iron amulet that grants a bonus based on the wearer's class. However, this amulet is far more complex than its somewhat crude appearance suggests. It was created and named by a primordial, chaotic god known as "The Stranger", who left it in the material realm to add a little spice to the already politically tense atmosphere of that pre-civilization era. The most unique feature of this item is its ability to adapt to its wearer. When a player gains Heroic Inspiration, the amulet gains one level and changes depending on how the inspiration was acquired, and gains one effect accordingly.

Level 1 :The Amulet looks normal and is inactive. The wearer gains a +1 bonus to their spellcasting ability if they are a spellcaster, or gains the same bonus to a pre-selected weapon type if the wearer has a fighter type class.

Level 2 (First Heroic Inspiration) : The Amulet's look change depending of the type of the action done to get the Heroic Inspiration (At GM's discretion). The amulet can now send approval or disapproval to the wearer by telepathy depending on their actions and whether those actions are consistent with the heroic inspiration that leveled up the amulet. Additionally, the wearer receives a +2 bonus to rolls on which he receives the amulet's approval.

Level 3 (Second Heroic Inspiration) : The amulet's appearance changes slightly to reflect the wearer. Its personality also changes depending on the nature of the action that granted Heroic Inspiration. In addition to approval and disapproval, the amulet can now emit emotions. The level 2 competency remains the same. As an action, once per day, the amulet can launch an attack based on its mood against one of the wearer's enemies. When in combat, the bonuses are equal to the wearer's proficiency bonus. The available emotions are: Luminous Strike (Joy), Fiery Impulse (Anger), Acid Flood (Sadness), Disdainful Strike (Disgust), and Nothing (Fear). (The effect of the spells is at the GM's discretion.)

Level 4 (Third Heroic Inspiration) : The amulet's appearance changes significantly or only slightly depending on the nature of the action performed for Heroic Inspiration, its personality also changes, becoming deeper and more developed. The amulet can still approve/disapprove and share emotions, but now also shares images and simple words. The amulet sees its environment through the wearer's eyes. Its 2nd and 3rd level abilities remain unchanged. Depending on the player's alignment, the amulet can now gain a spell to cast once per day, as an action.

Lawful Good : Heal

Neutral Good : Heroes' Feast

Chaotic Good : Wind Walk

Lawful Neutral : Globe of Invulnerability

Neutral : Contingency

Chaotic Neutral : Investiture of Wind

Lawful Evil : Mass Suggestion

Neutral Evil : Circle of Death

Chaotic Evil : Disintegrate

Level 5 (Fourth Heroic Inspiration) : The amulet's appearance can still change depending on the action taken to gain heroic inspiration, and its consciousness is as developed as that of a member of an intelligent race. The relic can now communicate telepathically with the wearer, and the transmission of approval or emotions is now verbal; the amulet can still transmit images. The feature acquired at 2nd level changes: when the amulet disapproves of an action requiring a roll, you have disadvantage on that roll and advantage on rolls approved by the amulet (Without the previous +2). The wearer gains a +1 bonus to all their stats. The amulet becomes embedded in the wearer's flesh and can no longer be removed except through divine intervention by "The Stranger" itself or a Wish spell.

"...It's definitely a complex subject... ...Yes, we've already talked about it, I'd like... ...I'd like to know why your opinion has changed on this issue, we agreed, didn't we?... ...Yes, I know you don't agree on this point, I won't do it again, but... ...but... *sigh* ...but I just want to drink a beer without suffering a constitution failure, you could cooperate..."
