A fine lute once owned by the famed composer Nethan Rothfield. With his transformation into a lich, the lute seems to have inherited some of its master’s necromantic essence; becoming an instrument of damnation fit only for playing symphonies of doom! Strumming the leathery strings of this bone-encrusted lute produces a violent, unearthly wail; while striking its mass against an opposing object causes it to emit a high, vibrating whine that vibrates the bones, freezes one’s teeth, and scratches at the backs of your eyes.
This instrument acts as a +1 Club in combat. When an attack roll succeeds against a creature or object, every creature (including the wielder) within 5ft of the impact that can hear it must succeed on a Wisdom Saving Throw (DC 10) or take 1d4 psychic damage.
You have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. Rolling a natural 1 on any attack roll or performance check with this weapon immediately Silences the wielder for 30 seconds (5 rounds).
The lute has five (5) charges which can be expended as an action to utilize its various spells contained within the instrument’s runes. All expended charges are restored upon completion of a long rest.
-By playing a hypnotic power ballad, the wielder can cast Enthrall (DC 12 Wisdom Saving Throw) on any creatures of your choice within range that can hear you. (Costs 1 Charge)
-By playing a discordant riff, the wielder can cast Chaos Bolt at level 2. (Costs 1 Charge)
-By playing a face-melting solo, the wielder can cast Aganazzar’s Scorcher at level 2 (Costs 2 Charge)
-By chugging through a sensory-overloading bridge, the wielder can cast Blindness/Deafness at level 3 (Costs 2 Charges)
-By weaving a masterful epic, the wielder can cast Major Image. (Costs 3 Charges)
-By unleashing the full power of Nethroth’zul’s cursed symphonies, the wielder can cast Danse Macabre at level 5. (Costs 5 Charges)
Proficiency with a Club allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Slow. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to it, you can reduce its Speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. If the creature is hit more than once by weapons that have this property, the Speed reduction doesn’t exceed 10 feet.
Notes: Bonus: Magic, Bard, must sit and tune the lute for an hour in order to attune oneself to it, Damage, Combat, Instrument, Focus, Light, Slow
The lute sounds like an electric guitar when played and a horrible, whining synth when struck against an object or creature.
