Weapon (crossbow, heavy), uncommon
The cruxbow is quad crossbow. It functions as a heavy crossbow with the following changes:
- Range is equal to a light crossbow (80/320)
- The cruxbow can fire 4 bolts before needing to be reloaded. This can allow a trained user to fire multiple bolts per round until the 4 shots have been exhausted.
- Reloading the cruxbow takes 2 full rounds, and the user cannot use their movement while reloading as the weapon must be braced against the ground to draw the strings.
- The weapon can't be stowed while loaded with more than a single shot, or the mechanism will discharge as it bounces on the wearer's back.
- The bowstring can set to a light or full draw, changing the damage. Slavers typically use the light draw when trying to subdue targets with poisoned bolts, using the full draw if shooting to kill. The setting must be chosen when the weapon is loaded and can't be changed without reloading.
- Light draw: 1d6 damage per shot.
- Full draw: 1d10 damage per shot.
Proficiency with a Heavy Crossbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
