It began with an unusual blacksmith commission: a shield enchanted to deflect large hammer blows. But when the spell was applied, a curious side-effect emerged -- the shield could also deflect the ground. Soon people started riding them. It wasn't long before they started racing.

During your turn, you may spend half your max movement speed to mount or dismount your shield. (While surfing, you are considered to be "wielding" the shield, but do not gain the benefits to AC.)
If surfing on Choice terrain, you may perform a Stunt once per turn, as a bonus action. If the terrain is Gnarly, you can still ride your shield, but cannot perform Stunts. Whether terrain is Choice or Gnarly is the sole discretion of the GM.
STUNTS
Bullywug Pop: Requires a ramping incline. Launch yourself high into the air, gaining the effects of the spell Jump until you dismount or Eat Shit.
Hungry Kobold: Requires a downward incline. Kick forward at speed, gaining the effects of the spell Haste until you dismount or Eat Shit.
Goblin Grind: Requires an uninterrupted rail or "rail-like surface" (use your imagination). Move through a hostile creature's space without provoking an attack of opportunity.
Mindflayer: Requires sufficient aerial hang-time and an opposed check (Dex vs Will). Target one sentient hostile creature that can see you and shred their minds with a sicknasty spinning backflip, inflicting the Stunned condition until their next turn. Can only be used once per creature per encounter.
(NOTE: You may invent and name your own tricks in the course of play, but you must be the first person in the world to do them, and they must be extremely rad. Any effects should be discussed with your GM, and may be subject to later tweaking. Y'know, for safety.)

EATING SHIT
If an effect moves you against your will while surfing, you must succeed on a DC 10 Dexterity saving throw. On a success, you are dismounted, but land on your feet with shield in-hand. On a failure, you Eat Shit.
When you Eat Shit, the following things happen:
- You take any appropriate fall damage (unless wearing Zeph White KrashPads™ and a Zeph White Brainbox™ Helmet)
- You immediately land prone
- Your shield lands 10 feet away from you
You may Eat Shit up to 3 times per long rest. The fourth time, your shield becomes Busted, ceases to function as either a shield OR a board, and requires maintenance at the nearest surfshield shop. (For more on repairs, consult your Zeph White HarshProof™ Warranty).

Shields require the Utilize action to Don or Doff. You gain the Armor Class benefit of a Shield only if you have training with it.
