While wearing this ring, you are immune to magic that allows other creatures to read your thoughts, determine whether you are lying, know your alignment, or know your creature type. Creatures can telepathically communicate with you only if you allow it.
You can use an action to cause the ring to become invisible until you use another action to make it visible, until you remove the ring, or until you die.
This ring already houses a soul. If that soul should ever depart for the afterlife, this ring will become a normal Ring of Mind Shielding. As long as the soul is in the ring, it can telepathically communicate with any creature wearing it, even if not attuned. A wearer can't prevent this telepathic communication.
Sstra was once a normal Giant Poisonous Snake, but after some time spent as the companion of a Beastmaster ranger she gained the benefits of the Awaken spell. After that she learned to speak Common, and served as a co-equal emissary between beasts and her humanoid associate. When they fought together in a tough battle, Sstra was slain. When she died she carried four rings on her tail: This Ring of Mind Shielding to protect her awakened soul, a Ring of Animal Influence to communicate with other beasts, a Ring of Telekinesis to interact with her environment, and finally a Ring of Warmth to allow her to visit cold locations, where snakes would normally not go.
After the time she was slain she has no knowledge of what happened with the remainder of the group, or with the ring she inhabits or any of their other things, until the ring gained a new user that she could communicate with. There is mental resistance to questions about why her companion did not pick up and wear her ring after the battle, to communicate with her. She might be able to describe where the battle took place, or information about what they fought, if the topic is brought up gently in the context of seeking to aid her.
Sstra has an Intelligence of 10, a Wisdom of 10 and a Charisma of 3. Sstra intends to remain within the ring until she can be reunited with her old Beastmaster companion, even if that could mean staying in the ring forever.
While Sstra's soul remains in the ring, her mental advice gives advantage on Wisdom (Survival) checks to track beasts and monstrosities, as well as on Intelligence checks to recall information about them. When you make an Intelligence or Wisdom check related to forests or grassland, your proficiency bonus is doubled if you are using a skill that you’re proficient in. Doubling and advantage may both apply to the same check, if conditions for both are met.
Notes: Advantage: Survival, Advantage: Intelligence Ability Checks, Twice Proficiency: Intelligence Ability Checks, Twice Proficiency: Wisdom Ability Checks, Utility, Deception, Warding, Jewelry, Sentient
