A balisong(butterfly) knife that seems oddly heavier and cuts nicer than other knives. The damage die for this weapon is 1d8 slashing damage. It has the Finesse property.
You may use a bonus action to flip the knife to Twilight’s Balance, this bonus action may coincide with a cunning action.
Twilight’s Balance: In this transitional form, the balisong knife handle design features a beautiful twilight sky and deep purple energy glows along the blade. It is a free action to flip to either Day’s Order or Night’s Chaos. The knife has 3 charges of Stored Twilight, that all recharge at next twilight. If the bonus action entering this form coincides with a cunning action, you may consume a charge of Stored Twilight to gain the following benefits based on the cunning action performed:
Dash: While dashing, twilight distorts you and lashes out at nearby enemies. Attacks of opportunity have disadvantage against you. In addition, all enemies within 5ft of you during the dash take 1d8 force damage.
Disengage: When you disengage, you leave behind an illusory double made from twilight. Any creatures within their melee range of you at the time of disengaging must make a DC 14 Intelligence (Investigation) check to see through the illusion. If the creature fails to see through the illusion, it still believes you are there. The illusion disappears at the start of your next turn, or when attacked.
Hide: When hiding, twilight assails those trying to perceive you. You may choose one creature within your movement speeds range. Twilight obscures the creature’s senses when trying to perceive you. This allows the current Hide cunning action to be used in “plain sight” of the creature. In addition, the creature has disadvantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks against your Dexterity (Stealth) check until the start of your next turn.
Day’s Order: In this form, the balisong knife handle design features a bright daylight sky and radiant orange energy glows along the blade. You gain a +2 bonus to your AC, may emit 10ft of bright light and an additional 10ft of dim light as a free action, and attacks gain your choice of 1d8 cold, fire, lightening, or thunder damage.
Night’s Chaos: In this form, the balisong knife handle design features a dark night sky and jet black energy glows along the blade. You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this weapon, you can see normally in darkness, both magical and non-magical, to a distance of 120 feet, and your attacks gain 1d8 damage. The type is based on its roll as follows;
Roll |
Damage Type |
1-2 |
Cold |
3-4 |
Fire |
5-6 |
Lightening |
7-8 |
Thunder |
If both this and the weapon damage roll are the same value, a version of you made of the damage type deals the 1d8 damage to another creature of your choice within 30ft of the target.
Cursed: The item can only be removed with a remove curse spell. The wearer, if not compatible to the item(determined by the DM), suffers side effects determined by the DM, based on the items effects.
Proficiency with a Rapier allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.
Notes: Combat, Cursed, Finesse, Vex
