The blade of this shortsword is not made from metal, but from the fang of an ancient black dragon known as the Hope Devourer. It has been shaped by the skillful hands of a master weaponsmith to hold an uncanny edge with a needle point. The fang is attached to an adamantine handle wrapped in dark leather ending in an onyx-adorned pommel. The sword itself is lightweight and hollow, but incredibly strong. A gland deep within the fang has been preserved by arcane magic and on the wielder's command, it can produce a toxin that seeps onto the surface of the blade, coating it in venom.
You gain a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
Venomous. You can use an action to cause thick, black poison to coat the blade. The poison remains for 1 minute or until an attack using this weapon hits a creature. That creature must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or take 2d10 poison damage and become poisoned for 1 minute. The sword can't be used this way again until the next dawn.
Bloodlust. When Serpent's Fang takes a life, it thirsts for more blood. For 1 minute, it gains an additional +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it. If you kill another foe, the minute starts over and the sword gains yet another +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it. This continues to increase for as long as the sword keeps killing. If the sword reaches +3 or higher, then you become exhausted after 1 minute when the effect ends. The level of exhaustion you take is equal to the bonus of the sword, but the sword will never kill you with exhaustion. Finishing a long rest magically removes all exhaustion caused by the sword.
Proficiency with a Shortsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
