The "Thrombotic Analyzation & Recombination" Unit, or T.A.R.C Unit for short, is a mizzium apparatus created by Aurthor ExDal in order to further his understanding of alchemical substances and their combinations, while in the wild field of the world. The T.A.R.C Unit is made up of three parts. Two are contained in a pack worn on the back, and the third is a wrist guard that is attached to the pack by a thick tube. Made up of hardened quartz glass, mizzium, and hard leather, the pack is well adjusted to being in the dangerous world. The wrist guard displays the information that the T.A.R.C Unit processes, as well as acts as the filling nozzle for empty spell shot casings.
The pack has two compartments. The top compartment is the Analyzation unit, where alchemical substances can be placed, which are then ionized and analyzed for either it's uses, or in the case of completed potions/alchemical substances/poisons, an ingredient list. All of this information is displayed to Aurthor on the wrist guard, where he can track what he discovers. The lower portion is the Recombination Unit, where combinations can be created. Aurthor's first creation, his Alchemy Jug, has been incorporated into the R.C. Unit, providing all of the base components needed for most combinations. Any specific, expensive, or rare ingredients will have to be provided manually. The T.A.R.C. Unit then reassembles combinations, which are piped into the wrist guard, and injected into "combination shots." These shots then can be fired from Aurthor's magic pistol, the bullet as a vessel for a delivery unit. The T.A.R.C Unit has a storage of 3 rounds.
As an action, Aurthor can load any combination shot he has made, and fire it at a target in range. The combination shot does 1 piercing damage, then injects the combination. If a saving throw is necessary, it is made against Aurthor's spell save DC. On a misfire roll, the combination shot explodes in his hand, subjecting Aurthor and all creatures within 5ft of him to a random potion effect.
Aurthor can make combination shots in two ways:
Aurthor can spend 1 minute directly operating the T.A.R.C Unit, engaging in a short ritual cast. If he is interrupted, the creation process fails. At the end of 1 minute, Aurthor makes the appropriate Int check to decide if he was successful.
As a bonus action, and expending a spellslot, Aurthor can attempt to create a combination using his artificer's magic. The T.A.R.C. Unit is overloaded with this magic, and is directed to create the combination shot without Aurthor's full attention. While this process is much quicker, it is much more dangerous. The Int check for combination difficulty is doubled.
Aurthor can attempt to make combinations that he knows at regular difficulty. He can also attempt to create combinations that he does not know the recipe for, or create new combinations all together. Attempting to make a combination he does not know the recipe for adds +2 to the difficulty.
The Int check is equal to 10+(Combination Difficulty), and can be made according to the Artificer's Infusion Table.
Combinations can be made a the following difficulty:
Common (1): Level 2
Uncommon (3): Level 6
Rare (5): Level 10
Very Rare (7): Level 14
Notes: Requires Attunement by an Artificer
