Appearing to the both the trained and untrained eye alike as little more that a key maker or locksmiths blank embossed with a small crown upon the square of metal that would normally hold the keys teeth this item is utterly useless and would only open the most simple of lock if any. Most likely this is a decorative piece made for some royal or other as a charm or even a key to the city... How unusual then that no matter how dark the key seems to sparkle even in the deepest shadow.
"Knock three times, door asunder, in shadow deep explore and plunder"
-A scrap of paper wrapped around the key when found
Royalty need not ask for passage:
One D3 times a day the wielder may freely cast an enchanted variant of the spell "Knock" as described below,
Choose an object that you can see within range. The object can be a door, a box, a chest, a set of manacles, a padlock, or another object that contains a mundane or magical means that prevents access.
A target that is held shut by a mundane lock or that is stuck or barred becomes unlocked, unstuck, or unbarred. If the object has multiple locks, ALL of them are unlocked.
If you choose a target that is held shut with arcane lock, that spell is suppressed for 10 minutes, during which time the target can be opened and shut normally.
When you use the item, a loud "ting" of metal on metal as though a heavy gold coin were dropped on a gong, audible from as far away as 500 feet, emanates from the target object.
The key recharges every long rest
