Weapon (longsword), very rare (requires attunement by a by a Bloodhunter)

Forged using lost methods by a smith long-dead, Montgomery Sangefort infused this sword with his eldritch blood and imbued it with a sanguine power. A nail-thin gap runs along the center of the blade, separating it into two blades in all parts except for the tip and the crossguard. The blades themselves are slightly off colored, one a metallic ebony and the other a burnished gunmetal. It's time within the Well of Night has altered it, making the weapon as light as a sword half the size and strangely cold, while the heart-shaped gem within the hilt's center has been bleached a ghostly white to match the pale wrappings on the hilt.

This is a +2 bastard sword, with the finesse property due to it's light weight. This weapon contains 3 charges. Once per round, you can use a free action to expend one hit die and regain a single charge. While attuned to it, you may expend a charge and activate one of the following features when the ability would allow you:

  • As a bonus action, you charge two separate Crimson Rite effects on it at once, coating each side of the blade with a different power. You still take the damage from both activations.
  • When you use your Blood Maledict ability, you may amplify it without taking damage.
  • When you reduce a creature to 0 HP with this sword, you use your reaction to move your speed in any way you can. If this leaves you within 5 feet of an enemy, you may immediately make a melee attack against them, with the Split Heart.

Curse. The influence of Montgomery's splintered mind has been seared into this blade, leaving a maddening curse upon those who attempt to wield it. While attuned to the Split Heart, you are considered cursed. As long as you remain cursed, you are unwilling to part with the sword, keeping it on your person at all times. Whenever you have less than half of your hit maximum hit dice remaining, using a hit dice for an effect above will force you to make a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw. Should you fail, you take 3d6 psychic damage. If you ever run out of hit dice, you gain a form of long-term madness until you regain a hit die.

Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
