Weapon (shortsword), rare (requires attunement by a Gruth)

This +1 shortsword, is a single edged dark grey blade with a dull red edge. It is a permanent pact weapon. It expands the wielders critical hit range by 1, uses DEX or STR (whichever is higher, to determine attack rolls) and whenever the wielder brings an enemy to 0 or less HP they gain 1d8 temporary hit points, those temporary hitpoints convert to healing at the end of battle if there are any remaining.

Additionally the wielder gains the ability to cast Summon Lesser Demon as a ritual, once per day (resetting at dawn). The ritual always summons 2 Dretch Demons, that last for up to 2 hours. Contrary to normal use of the ritual the demons will obey any commands from the summoner but are not able to travel more than 50ft from their summoner and will not perform any actions that do not involving harming another.
Gruth, a simple traveler (for homeless sounds so crass) doesn't remember acquiring this blade. After a raucous night drinking at a tavern he had never been to, making friends he would likely never meet again he left and fell into a ditch. During that nights 'rest' he had vivid dreams of a talking blade, promising him power to match his latent potential should he be amenable. Thinking it a simple dream he agreed, only finding out come morning he had bargained more than he though, though the exact terms of his service were hard to recall.
Curse: The Promise -for all of it's benefits to Gruth- has a mind of its own. It cannot leave his hand, ever. If he would drop it, sheathe it, have it taken or suffer any other form of separation, it immediately teleports back to his hand - bypassing all barriers, magics and attempts to stop it. Even asleep, climbing or injured, it must always remain in one of his hands. Further, the it requires a regular tribute of fresh animals blood (bathed within 10 seconds of the animals death) daily. For every day Gruth fails to tribute to the blade he either suffers 1 level of exhaustion or must expend 2 pact slots for the next day.

Proficiency with a Shortsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
