This item is a medium-sized pinecone with gold leaf painted on it and tucked in a simple mahogany box. When showing the pinecone to another creature, they must make a DC 20 Intelligence Saving Throw. On a failure, it regards The Splendiferous Bauble as the most desired and valuable item they have ever seen and would be willing to trade one item they have on their person for it. On a success, they see through the illusion to the gilded pinecone underneath, but the creature still recognizes this as a very powerful magic item.

The Splendiferous Bauble cannot compel a creature to give away anything which would require signatures, ceremonies, or intermediaries such as deeds or noble titles. Only the most valuable item on their person is accepted, and minutes after trading this item for the Splendiferous Bauble, the creature recognizes its true nature.
