You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. In addition, the weapon ignores resistance to slashing damage.
While holding this weapon, you have resistance to both Radiant and Necrotic damage.
This Double-Bladed Scimitar holds different, opposing enchantments in each of it's blades, Yin and Yang. Yin represents light, life, and creation, while Yang represents darkness, death, and decay. You may focus on one of the blades to activate a passive effect, though only one effect may be active at a time. This effect lasts for 10 minutes, and may be used a number of times equal to your proficiency modifier before taking a long rest.
- Yin: A bright light is emitted in a 40-foot radius around you, penetrating even magical darkness, and emits dim light for an extra 40 feet beyond that. While in this light, creatures of your choosing have advantage on saving throws against Fear effects.
- Yang: You and any number of creatures of your choice within 30 feet seemingly fade away, gaining advantage on Dexterity (Stealth) checks. In addition, you may select one of those creatures. Until this effect ends, all Dexterity (Stealth) checks made by that creature are shared with all other creatures that you chose.
Additionally, each blade has a special effect that you may activate once per turn upon making a successful attack with this weapon:
- Yin: The damage type is considered Radiant damage instead of slashing damage, and you deal additional Radiant damage equal to your attack modifier. You gain temporary hit points equal to the damage from the attack.
- Yang: The damage type is considered Necrotic damage instead of slashing damage, and causes wounds to the target. The wounded creature cannot recover hit points through any means other than taking a short or long rest. At the start of each of the wounded creature's turns, it takes 2d4 necrotic damage for each time you've wounded it, and it can then make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw, ending the effect of all such wounds on itself on a success. Alternatively, the wounded creature, or a creature within 5 feet of it, can use an action to make a DC 18 Wisdom (Medicine) check, ending the effect of such wounds on it on a success.
Special. When you take the attack action and make a two-handed attack with a double-bladed scimitar, you can use a bonus action to make a melee attack with the blade at the opposite end of the weapon. This attack uses the same ability modifier as the primary attack. The weapon’s damage die for this attack is a d4, and it deals slashing damage.
The double-bladed scimitar is the signature weapon of Valenar elves. A haft of fine wood supports a long, curving blade on either end. Forged with techniques honed over centuries, these blades are strong, sharp, and remarkably light. Each scimitar is a masterpiece, and as a result the double-bladed scimitar is an expensive weapon (100 gp) — few though ever have the opportunity to purchase one. A Valenar blade in the hands of a non-elf is generally assumed to have been stolen or looted from a fallen foe, and a Valenar elf might feel entitled to demand its return or challenge the bearer to prove they’re worthy to wield it.
Special. If you attack with a double-bladed scimitar as part of the Attack action on your turn, you can use a bonus action immediately after to make a melee attack with it. This attack deals 1d4 slashing damage on a hit, instead of 2d4.
Notes: Damage: Necrotic, Bonus: Temporary Hit Points, Resistance: Radiant, Resistance: Necrotic, Weapon Property: Finesse, Bonus: Magic, a long rest, during which you meditate with the item, Healing, Damage, Debuff, Combat, Special, Two-Handed
