The fabled battle Khopesh of the long deceased Karo-Amut-Mimut, twelfth king of The Southlands. With this blade he defeated the myriad Duergar and Drow slavers who threatened villages up and down the land during the Lightless Excursions. A light to many in those dark years, this blade is the source of many a fabled tale, heroic song, and whispered legend.
The hilt is made from solid Blood-Bark Oak, and wrapped in leather that has been dyed blue, a costly process at the time. Bands of gold weave follow the leather strapping, giving the hilt a magnificent, royal lustre. The steel blade is stained red, many claim through the blood of countless foes, or from the blessing of the desert. Most likely it is a smelting additive that gives the hue. The dangerous reverse sickle curve still gleams as sharp and deadly as the day it was forged and the five rubies of Anai still sit in their sockets up the length of the blade.
The rubies give the blade it's true strength as Anai was not just Karo-Amut-Mimut's wife, but his court Sorcerer as well, and she used the rubies to imbue his blade with all the strength he needed to defend his people.
The Light in The Dark. Karo-Amut-Mimut used this blade to bring light to his people in their darkest times, in both the figurative and literal sense. When you have the Ruby Khopesh attuned you can use a bonus action to make it glow brightly with a red light, that gives Bright Light for 40ft and dim light for an additional 20ft. In addition, any creatures with Sunlight Sensitivity treat this light as sunlight. These effects last for ten minutes or until you use a bonus action to cancel the ability. This ability has five charges. Any spent charges refill at Dawn, but only if The Ruby Khopesh is touched by the rays of the sunrise.
The Strength of a Nation. Only the mightiest of rulers are fit to wield the Ruby Khopesh and those that do feel their bodies course with the strength of their people. When you have the Ruby Khopesh attuned your Strength Score is set to 17 unless it is already greater.
The Desert Sands Incarnate. Some say that while Karo-Amut-Mimut wielded the Ruby Khopesh, he was as mobile as the sands themselves and just as hard to hit. When you have The Ruby Khopesh attuned you gain 5ft of walking speed. Also if you are hit by a melee attack, ranged attack, or spell that targets you directly you can use a reaction to attempt to avoid the blow. You must be able to see your attacker and you must not be surprised. You must declare the use of this ability after the attack hits, but before any resulting damage rolls are made. Roll a d20 (If you are in a Desert area, make this roll with advantage). On a roll of 11 or higher you disappear in a cloud of sand, reappearing in a clear space of your choice that is no more than 10ft away from your original position and take no damage from the attack as well as negating any additional effects the attack may have had. On a roll of 10 or less you do not manage to avoid the attack, but a cloud of sand deadens the blow; You take half the damage from the attack but are still subject to any additional effects the attack confers after initial damage. The Ruby Khopesh starts with 1d4 charges of this ability and refills 1d4-1 charges every day at Dawn. It can hold a maximum of 7 charges.
Deadly. With any successful attack, you can reroll up to one of the weapon’s damage dice if it rolls a 1. You cannot reroll any die that has already been rerolled with another effect (such as the Great Weapon Fighting class feature or the savage attacker feat) and vice versa.
Magical. You have a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
