A weapon whose forging is as absurd as the feats it has accomplished, Zankdom's Destiny is The Fragmented's primary weapon when he makes an appearance. Forged out of maximum density steel and held in place with a telekinetically stabilizing enchantment, this monstrous blade has claimed the lives of many a fiend, god, world, and even dimensions.
Bloodline requirement. Should someone not related to The Fragmented attempt to touch the blade, they immediately take 50 fire damage. Additionally, they make a DC22 WIS saving throw. If they fail, they take 6 points of WIS damage. If their WIS is reduced to 0, they die and their brain is turned to ash. If the wielder is immortal in some nature, they also take 15% of their max hit points as damage. Regardless of the damage suffered, it cannot be reduced in any way. This damage is repeated for each round the creature is still in contact with the blade.
Unstoppable. You have a +5 to attack and damage rolls made with this weapon while it is attuned to you.
Safeguard. ZD has the minor beneficial property "While attuned to the artifact, you can't be charmed or frightened."
Brutal Cleaver. ZD has the major beneficial property "When you hit with a weapon attack while attuned to the artifact, the target takes an extra 1d6 damage of the weapon’s type." twice. (The weapon's damage is 4d6 slashing.)
Mortal Purifier. ZD has the minor detrimental property "While attuned to the artifact, all holy water within 10 feet of you is destroyed." This includes unholy water.
Extension of Will. As a bonus action the person attuned to ZD can summon the blade to their hand. This works from any distance and between planes, even bypassing the authority gods have in their own realms.
Deicide. While attuned to ZD, your attacks against gods, demigods, and other immortal creatures (such as liches, the tarrasque, etc.) your attacks deal 15% of the target's maximum hit points as damage, or your rolled damage, whichever is higher. This damage cannot be reduced in any way. Entities killed by ZD have their soul incinerated and cannot be brought back. Deities killed killed by ZD die permanently, their essence totally and absolutely burned away to nothing.
Pocket Dimensions. ZD has two pocket dimensions, accessible by the two lapis nodes on the back edge of the blade. Both of these function like demiplanes and can be entered as an action while attuned to the blade. Additionally, you can phase your hand through a lapis node, think of an item stored with in and pull your hand out. The item will be in your hand when you pull it out.
Augments. ZD has four augment slots to modify the weapon with. Two of these slots are already filled and grant the following effects.
- Hell Ensnared. A layer of hell is entrapped within this augment slot, represented by a gleaming sphere of burning fire and hate. While attuned to the weapon your attacks with the weapon deal an extra 15d8 fire damage, ignore fire resistance, and force creatures hit to make a DC22 WIS saving throw or take 1d6 WIS damage from the unspeakable pain caused by the burning. Creatures reduced to 0 WIS in this way die, their brain turned to ash.
- Reality Slasher. A potent sphere of a mix of raw mana and destabilized reality, this gem grants the wielder a number of reality bending effects. The gem has 20 charges which fully refresh when the wielder takes a long rest. While attuned and holding the blade, the wielder can cast a number of spells by expending charges. Misty Step (0 charges,) Dimension Door (1 charge,) Etherealness (3 charges,) Teleport (4 charges,) and Gate (5 charges.)
Destroying ZD. The blade can be unmade by its creator, The Fragmented. Alternatively if the blade is phased out of existence while all those who could attune to it are dead, the blade is functionally lost forever and no longer exists. And, should the current wielder of ZD be killed, the blade is put into a temporarily weakened state as the central gem becomes brittle for 24 hours. Should the gem be struck with a +3 or stronger weapon the gem shatters. All magic affecting the blade immediately ends, and all hell breaks loose... literally. The ultra-dense steel immediately undergoes fusion from the intense pressure, the reality gem warps space around it to potentially result in planar wide devastation, and the hellfire gem expands rapidly, dropping that layer of hell right there on the spot.
Proficiency with a Greatsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Graze. If your attack roll with this weapon misses a creature, you can deal damage to that creature equal to the ability modifier you used to make the attack roll. This damage is the same type dealt by the weapon, and the damage can be increased only by increasing the ability modifier.
