Armor (shield), rare (requires attunement)
While holding this Shield, you have Resistance to damage from attacks made with Ranged weapons.
Curse. This Shield is cursed. Attuning to it curses you until you are targeted by a Remove Curse spell or similar magic. Removing the Shield fails to end the curse on you. Whenever an attack with a Ranged weapon targets a creature within 10 feet of you, the curse causes you to become the target instead.
Shields require the Utilize action to Don or Doff. You gain the Armor Class benefit of a Shield only if you have training with it.
Notes: Resistance: Ranged Attacks, Warding, Cursed

Posted Jan 30, 2024Ooooh, like if the character wearing this is hiding behind a wall, on the other side there's a prisoner about to be executed. How long does the firing/arching squad take to realize all the arrows seem to arc over the wall?

Posted Jun 22, 2024Let's say someone with an AC of 14 is attacked and standing next to the shield wielder who has an AC of 16 - the attacker rolls a 15 to attack with his crossbow. Does his bolt hit the shield wielder, or are both targets save in this case?

Posted Aug 31, 2024The crossbow bolt curves to hit the shield wielder, and bounces off his shield.

Posted Jun 2, 2025I don't think obscurity would have anything to do with the attack roll on the person with the shield, as the attacker isn't the one making the attack so it doesn't matter if they can see the person with the shield. I would think they use the same attack roll from the original target to see if it hits the new one.

Posted Sep 8, 2025why would it matter if the wizard picks it up? Cursed items only affect you when you attune to them, not touch them. And wizards cannot attune to shields.
