Weapon (greatclub), artifact (requires attunement)

An elegant walking cane made from solid flawless ruby.
Asmodeus's badge of office as ruler of the Nine Hells, the Ruby Rod is an artifact of immense power while simultaneously blinding him or the present ruler to the Pact Primeval. The Rod functions by Asmodeus's will alone and if any creature attempts to use it without his consent must make a DC 20 Constitution saving throw. On a successful save, the creature takes 11d10 Hellfire damage (fire damage that ignores resistance and immunity to fire). On a failed save, the creature dies and is resurrected as a lemure on the banks of the River Styx in one of the upper layers of the Nine Hells.

You gain a +6 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon, and anyone struck with this weapon suffers the effects of inflict wounds cast as a 9th level spell.

Aura of Might. Anyone attempting to make a melee attack against the wielder must first succeed on a Charisma saving throw (DC 20) or instead bow down and fall prone before the master.

Magic Resistance: While attuned to this item, you are immune to the charmed condition, and have advantage on all saves against spells and other magical effects.

Reverie of Nessus: Once per day, when this ability is activated, the wielder is instantly encased in a 5-foot-radius spherical wall of force, and the area 50 feet around the sphere (but not within it) becomes an antimagic field. This effect lasts for 3 rounds.

  • In the first round, the wielder is automatically purged of any unwanted spells.
  • In the second round, the wielder is cured of any diseases, poisons, or physical maladies (including lost body parts).
  • In the third round, the wielder gains the benefit of a long rest, being healed and regaining spells and abilities accordingly.

In addition to these properties, the Ruby Rod can be used to cast the following spells at 9th level (spell save 25) once per day. Once a spell has been cast this way, it cannot be cast again until the next dawn. Damage dealt with any of these spells ignore resistance and immunity.
