This golden amulet, adorned with an image of a phoenix in flight, is hot to the touch, as are you while it rests around your neck. While you wear it, you are immune to fire and cold damage, and you can cast the produce flame cantrip at will.
Fiery Rebirth. When you would fail a death saving throw while wearing this amulet, you can instead leap back to life in a burst of flame. All creatures within 10 feet of you must make a DC 19 Dexterity saving throw, taking 4d6 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much on a success. You return to consciousness with all of your hit points, and you can stand up if you were prone. In addition, you gain 20 temporary hit points, which last for 10 minutes. While you have these temporary hit points, you are under the effects of the bless spell. Once you use this feature of the amulet, you can't use it again until 7 days have passed.
Notes: Immunity: Fire, Immunity: Cold, Healing, Buff, Warding, Necklace, Jewelry, Headwear
It's a really cool concept, but I think it's a bit busted and should come with some downsides for getting basically a free 1-up every week. In the original legend of the phoenix, the phoenix's old body is burned away and reborn as a baby phoenix in an egg. Fitting the theme, the revive feature could come with some debuff/downside, either related to the body weak from receiving heavy burns or being weak from being reborn, such as a str/con/dex reduction for a week or two while the body regrows/heals
Okay, that's interesting. So basically it should be a debuff instead of a buff to come back? What about reduced movement speed, penalty to STR/CON, or something making it so that you can't cast spells over a certain level? Or maybe some combination thereof?
Love it!
Great! Thanks!
