An Ioun stone is named after Ioun, a god of knowledge and prophecy revered on some worlds. Many types of Ioun stone exist, each type a distinct combination of shape and color.
When you use an action to toss one of these stones into the air, the stone orbits your head at a distance of 1d3 feet and confers a benefit to you. Thereafter, another creature must use an action to grasp or net the stone to separate it from you, either by making a successful attack roll against AC 24 or a successful DC 24 Dexterity (Acrobatics) check. You can use an action to seize and stow the stone, ending its effect.
A stone has AC 24, 10 hit points, and resistance to all damage. It is considered to be an object that is being worn while it orbits your head.
Regeneration. You regain 15 hit points at the end of each hour this pearly white spindle orbits your head, provided that you have at least 1 hit point.
Notes: Bonus: Hit Points, Healing
This is the worst legendary item in the game
For allowing ye to press on through the dungeon so dangerous that resting if possible would be an execution?
For making it so you needn't wait for your next long rest or take more short ones than you've the time for or spend a spell slot you could use to harm creatures hostile to you to top off your HP?
Doesn't a ring of regeneration heal you for 1d6 6 times in one hour? Average for 18 HP an hour and i DONT THINK you need to be at 1 hp for that. Also this has an EXPLICIT ac and HP unlike the ring of regeneration which only has an ac and HP in so far as all objects do but it never usually comes up. Think the ring of regeneration is better
This is just a worse version of the ring of regeneration. This is legendary the ring is very rare. This doesn’t regenerate anything besides hp the ring can regenerate your arm in a few days. Also this is a very noticeable stone orbiting your head while the ring is just a run of the mill ring to anyone who doesn’t know magic. Idk why this was even made first of all and secondly why the rarity?
What, are you gonna wait an hour for those 15 hitpoints to show up? Might as well have short rested, which is also an hour.
It’s fifteen HP, that’s nothing at 17th level, when players start finding magic items. No way in hell I’d waste an attunement slot on that. An hour is just far too long to wait for a frankly piddly amount of regen for the hostile sort of environments you’re referring to
