Weapon (longsword), legendary (requires attunement by a wielder who must meditate at dawn and midnight, uninterrupted, and successively clean the blade with earth, fire, water, and air, the last by practicing with it for one hour. Performing the ritual awakens the sword and discloses its name. Attunement must be renewed once a month.)

Zawn, a Cornish word for a wave worn chasm, is an ebony toned blade with a squared, slanted top, like a Chokuto, the oldest style of Japanese sword. It slides into a drab, blue-gray sheathe. The weapon confers no bonuses to hit or to damage but when it's name is spoken as a bonus action, it transforms. In this it is like a Flame Tongue. But instead of bursting into flames, Zawn appears to become molten, neither liquid nor solid, with wind coursing over its surface. Semi-sentient, it coneys a sense of overwhelming complexity and indifference to any sentient creature it wounds, intensifying the pain of the wound. The result is an extra 2d6 psychic damage to any target it hits.

The transformation lasts until the wielder uses a bonus action to resay "Zawn" or until it is dropped or sheathed.

The wielder also gains access to two spells of transmutation, Mold Earth and Shape Water, and one of necromancy, Spare the Dying. All are accessible as Cantrips once the wielder is attuned. Zawn does not need to be activated to cast the spells.

Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
