Weapon (pistol), artifact

Named for its creator, this firearm was forged by an Artificer and monster hunter hundreds of years ago when handguns became reliable enough to use to hunt monsters. Carved in arcane sigils and bathed in the blood of a devil and a celestial together, the Springfield is an abomination of nature, and no weapon like it has ever been made like it since. The Springfield has changed hands many times over the years, eventually falling into the hands of Jonathan Remington, and then inherited by his sons, Dain and Samhain, in whose possession it remains. Only six original bullets still remain, and the ritual to create new bullets has been lost to the Remington brothers. The old Artificer may have kept a journal, however, and the ritual is said to be outlined therein.

When paired with The Springfield, the bullets made by this formula and ritual are able to instantly kill nearly any fiend, celestial, aberration, dragon, fey, elemental, monstrosity, were-being, or undead that are shot and hit. As the enemy's power and skill rises, it becomes increasingly harder for its power to inflict death upon the foes of its wielder.

When any one of the monster types above are shot and hit by The Springfield, they must roll a d20 and follow the tables below:

Being shot and hit by The Springfield when not loaded with any other projectile than its bullets also deals a normal 1d10 piercing damage.
