This black staff is crafted from the wood of a Zalantar tree. Eight curved lines run down the body of the staff and the words "Ubtao choke my enemies" are carved into the head of the staff in Chultan.
You can use an action to speak this staff's command word and plant the staff on the ground within 5 feet of you. The staff becomes a tangle of vines under your control and acts on its own initiative count. By using a bonus action to speak the command word again, you return the staff to its normal form in a space formerly occupied by the vines. The vine has 60 hit points and a +5 modifier to hit. On each of it's turns the vines can make an attack against a creature within 5 feet of it. If the attack hits the creature takes 12 (2d8 + 3) bludgeoning damage and is grappled. Until this grapple ends, the creature is also restrained, and the vines can't constrict another target.
If the vines are reduced to 0 hit points, they die and revert back into its staff form. The staff then shatters and is destroyed. If the vines revert to staff form before losing all their hit points, they regain all of them.
