Armor (shield), artifact (requires attunement by a Warrior or Paladin)

A tower shield made from metals that were once forged and created by an extinct tribe. The designs on the outer edges look elegant and can rival artisan work on expensive plates and vases. The once lonely castle that once decorated the center of the shield is now dominated by emboldened, golden image of an ouroboros wrapping itself around a beautiful, verdant green gem. You can feel power radiate from it's new core.

Increases your AC rating by 3 and gives you immunity from force and piercing damage.

Health Leech. Once attuned, due to the gem whenever you slay a monster that has lower max hit points than you, you can steal up to 1d4 permanent hit points from their corpse. Once you do this however, the body becomes desecrated and cannot be harvested for materials or loot. Stealing large amounts of life essence from one type of creature might have some adverse effects.

Awakened Bastion. When fighting multiple enemies and your health is below 15%, you can activate this ability once per long rest. Once activated, adamantine walls (AC: 20 HP: 500) rise out of the ground, up to 100 feet in height, and surround you in a 10 foot radius. Whilst in this space you cannot attack or be attacked, cast spells, use/activate items, or move. Entities caught within the radius don't have these restrictions applied to them, but cannot leave the confines of the wall through magical/non-magical means. If your health exceeds the 15% mark or 24 hours have passed since using this ability, the walls immediately crumble to dust releasing you from all restrictions it applied.

An additional effect of Awakened Bastion is that it offers a 25 HP regeneration per 3 turns it is activated for all those within it's walls. Monsters with an AC lower than 15 that attack the wall will take half of the damage they do to the wall as reflected damage.

Shields require the Utilize action to Don or Doff. You gain the Armor Class benefit of a Shield only if you have training with it.
