Wondrous Item, artifact (requires attunement by a Equip)

An amulet in the shape of a outer ring of a midnight black metal holding a smooth grey stone bound in the center of the ring by five black tentacles. Runes run along the border, constantly moving and changing making them unreadable and utterly mesmerizing. The gemstone appears as ever-shifting dense fog caught inside of a stone. A hazy mist constantly pours off of the stone only to be reabsorbed by the strange runes. It attracts you and invites you to wear it, even if only for a moment.

Upon directly viewing the stone or investigating the amulet, the player must make a DC 25 Wisdom saving throw or be controlled and forced to equip the Amulet. When equipped, the Amulet sears itself into the mind, body, and soul of the wearer rendering it unable to be removed by any means, including death and resurrection. This process is extremely painful and deals 1d10 necrotic and 1d10 psychic damage after the damage is dealt the wearer gains level 5 Exhaustion, however it is impossible for this effect to kill the wearer instead leaving them at one hit point were it would otherwise kill them. Once worn, the Amulet imparts its ancient and forbidden knowledge and power into the wearer raising their Intelligence by 5 + their level, granting them innate mastery of some spells, andallowing them to see into the Ethereal Plane; however this power was never meant for mortals too wield and irrevocably drives the wearer insane which forces them to suffer a disadvantage on all Charisma and Intelligence checks. In order to use the innate spells of the Amulet one must draw upon the forbidden knowledge within and take 1d4 Psychic damage per spell level (if a spell may be cast with more than one level the wearer may choose which to use), cantrips deal (1d4)/2 Psychic damage; spells cast in this manner have no material, somatic, or verbal requirements. when casting a spell that would kill the wearer from psychic backlash, they instead transform into an aberration of the DM's choice, attacking anything nearby until killed.
