Zula was a captured warrior from the savage tribes in Hepmonoland. After several escape attempts, the Scarlet Brotherhood put him in the Gladiator Pits in the capital city of Hesuel Ilshar for entertainment.
Zula became a fan-favorite after surviving multiple bouts designed to eliminate him in a spectacular fashion. Over time, he became so popular that the Scarlet Brotherhood gifted him with this magical sword in order for even more elaborate challenges to appease the crowds.
Unbeknownst to the Brotherhood, Zula had been planning his escape for months. Once he became a celebrity, it was only a matter of time before he was allowed outside of the gladiatorial arena for a private appearance. He easily dispatched his guards, fled into the city killing several other guards before disappearing into the countryside.
Zula was never captured and was never heard of until years later…as notorious pirate captain in the Azure Sea named Ja’Janga the Sea Reaver. Zula was revealed by a former Scarlet Brotherhood initiate before Zula threw him to the sharks.
Rumor had it Zula traded this sword for the most beautiful slave girl in Port Joli. It has been sold and traded throughout the region for years.
