The Sanguine Rose is an Ōdachi-style sword. It is long and elegant and bears flowers and grapes at the hilt, and always shines with a blood-red gleam, as though the light hitting it was always red. It welcomes attention, blood, and wine and desires to be bathed in either every night.
Dormant. The Sanguine Rose grants the following benefits in its dormant state:
- Cursed are the Thirsty: When the Sanguine Rose is dipped in a body of water, it transforms it. While the sun remains in the sky, the blade will turn up to 5ft cubed of water into blood. When the sun sets, the water turns to wine. You can use this feature once per day.
- Bloody Blade The Sanguine Rose gains a +1 bonus to attack and damage, and deals an extra 1d6 poison damage on hit.
- Hungry Wounds After a successful hit, the wounds caused hunger for more blood spilled and begin to tear further at the edges. Target takes 1d6 bleeding damage every turn until their wound is healed. The bleeding damage increases on subsequent hits on the same target, by 1d6 per hit up to a max of 4d6.
Awakened. When the Skull reaches an awakened state, it gains the following properties:
- Cursed are the Thirsty: The Sanguine Rose can now transform up to 30 cubic feet of water.
- Bloody Blade The Sanguine Rose gains a +2 bonus to attack and damage, and deals an extra 2d6 poison damage on hit.
- Hungry Wounds Bleeding damage increases to 2d6, to a max of 8d6.
Skull reaches an exalted state, it gains the following properties:
- Cursed are the Thirsty: The Sanguine Rose can now transform up to 100 cubic feet of water.
- Bloody Blade The Sanguine Rose gains a +3 bonus to attack and damage, and deals an extra 2d8 poison damage on hit.
- Hungry Wounds Bleeding damage increases to 3d6, to a max of 12d6.
Proficiency with a Greatsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Graze. If your attack roll with this weapon misses a creature, you can deal damage to that creature equal to the ability modifier you used to make the attack roll. This damage is the same type dealt by the weapon, and the damage can be increased only by increasing the ability modifier.
Notes: To attune to this great blade, one must bathe with it in a bath of equal amounts blood and wine. If either amount is off by even a few drops, the bath will attempt to drown the user., Heavy, Two-Handed, Graze
