Wondrous Item, legendary (requires attunement)

Long ago, the god Nerull reigned over the plane of Pluton, his powers great and vast with absolute control over the dead. A tyrant, and one of the greatest of evils upon the planes, his followers left destruction across the material plane. One day, however, he found the soul of ______, a sorcerer-queen whose soul was brighter than any other. He drew her to him, granting her authority within Pluton in an attempt to gain her affection, but _______ knew of his corruption and fought created a plan to overthrow the dark king. By traveling to the world tree and being blessed with piece of the tree’s heart, she returned to Pluton and created a great flame. The Spirit-Flame, powerful and pure from the blessings of the world tree, freed the dead who were doomed to be slaves to the evil king, purifying their spirits and returning them to rest. Without the strength of his legions, Nerull fell before the might of _______, allowing her to take his godhood and domain over death. 


 

This small metal lantern holds a small piece of this flame, somehow still burning millennium later, granting its wielder the following benefits.

Spiritual Beacon: Lost souls are drawn to the light, both to warm themselves as well as for salvation. Friends and Foes alike will be drawn to its power, adding fuel to the flame.

  •  At dawn roll 1d6+1, that number of lost souls are drawn into the lantern.
  • Any Slain enemies have their soul sucked into the lantern forcefully.
  • Souls can be persuaded to enter the lantern through use of a 6th sense ability.
  • Current Max Souls: 10 

 

Spiritual Embers: As Souls are purified by the flame, they give off energy that can be harnessed in different ways. One of these abilities may be used as a bonus action on any turn provided you have enough souls to burn.

  • Can cast the Spirit Guardians spell by burning 2 souls, you can upcast this by one level for an additional 2 souls burned.
  • Can cast the Spirit Shroud Spell by burning 3 souls, you can upcast this by one level for an additional 3 souls burned.
  • Can heal yourself for 2d8 hit points (Counting as but not consuming a spell slot cast spell) for 4 souls burned, you can increase this by one 2d8 for each 4 souls burned.
  • You may burn 1 soul’s life experience, making your next attack roll, ability check, or saving throw with advantage. If you don’t use this benefit before the start of your next turn, it is lost.

Spiritual Embers is maintained for the duration, however, do not count against your max number of concentrations (EG. You may have Spirit Shroud as well as Conjure Animals being concentrated on simultaneously, making concentrations for each as normal). 


 

Growing Flames: As the fire grows so does your power, this magical item can grow so long as you can find the right fuel. 


 

Falling through dreams: May be able to travel through memories or dreams in the right conditions (Dms discretion).
