Weapon (shortsword), uncommon (requires attunement)

You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.

Curse. This sword is cursed and possessed by a vengeful spirit. Becoming attuned to it extends the curse to you. As long as you remain cursed, you are unwilling to part with the sword, keeping it on your person at all times. While attuned to this weapon, you have disadvantage on attack rolls made with weapons other than this one.

In addition, while wielding this sword, you must succeed on a DC 19 Wisdom saving throw whenever you take damage. On a failed save, you fly into a mindless rage, attacking the closest creature to you until you drop to 0 hit points, or it does, or until there are no living creatures in your visual range. While in this state, you cannot do anything but make physical attacks(melee or ranged). At the end of each turn, you can make a DC19 Wisdom saving throw to end the madness. After the madness dissipates, you have no memory of what had transpired.

You can break the curse in the usual ways. Alternatively, casting banishment on the sword forces the vengeful spirit to leave it. The sword then becomes a +3 weapon with no other properties.

Proficiency with a Shortsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Vex. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to the creature, you have Advantage on your next attack roll against that creature before the end of your next turn.
