Weapon (longsword), legendary (requires attunement by a Warlock of the Hexblade)

Cast into the depths of the Underdark, the Shadowblade emits an inky smoke from its edge, seeming to shift eerily in the light. Its black scabbard is decorated with a beautiful ruby.

You gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. It has the following additional properties.

Tithing Blade

Whenever you use this blade to reduce a creature to 0 hit points, the sword slays the creature and devours its soul, tithing it to the Hexblade, unless it is a construct or an undead. A creature whose soul has been devoured by the Shadowblade can be restored to life only by a wish spell.

When it devours a soul, the Shadowblade grants you advantage on your next attack roll. This effect fades after 24 hours. As long as this effect persists and you keep the Shadowblade in hand, the edge of the blade glows red.

If you are killed while wielding the Shadowblade, it devours your soul.

Commune

The Shadowblade is wielded by the Hexblade's champion, and is a channel for the power given by the dark entity. The Hexblade speaks to the wielder through the sword, issuing commands and demands. The wielder can use the sword to commune with the Hexblade, but it is not always guaranteed that the wielder will receive word in response.

Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
