Weapon (longbow), legendary (requires attunement)

This ancient longbow, adorned with intricate runes and celestial motifs, hums with an otherworldly energy. It appears as if it was crafted by ancient beings with both great wisdom and power.

Damage and Properties. The Wrath of the Ancients deals 1d8 piercing damage on a hit and has a range of 150/600 feet. It requires ammunition, which is not provided with the bow.

Magic Properties. While attuned to this bow, you gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with it.

Special Abilities:

  1. Ancient Arrow. When you make a ranged attack with the Wrath of the Ancients, you can choose to expend one of the bow's magical charges to create an Ancient Arrow. This arrow deals an additional 2d8 radiant damage on a hit. The bow has 3 charges, and it regains expended charges daily at dawn.

  2. Elemental Barrage. As a bonus action, you can expend 1 charge to release a volley of energy. Choose one of the following effects:

    • Fire: Each creature in a 10-foot radius around a point you can see within 120 feet must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw, taking 4d6 fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
    • Lightning: Each creature in a 10-foot line that is 60 feet long and 5 feet wide must make a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw, taking 4d6 lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
    • Ice: Each creature in a 15-foot cone must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw, taking 4d6 cold damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one. The area becomes difficult terrain until the end of your next turn.
  3. Wrathful Strike. Once per long rest, when you hit a creature with the Wrath of the Ancients, you can channel its wrath to force the target to make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, the target is frightened for 1 minute. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, with disadvantage if it can see you, ending the effect on itself on a success.

Curse of the Ancients. The Wrath of the Ancients demands respect and control. Whenever you use the Elemental Barrage or Wrathful Strike abilities, you must make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, you gain one level of exhaustion as the bow’s power takes a toll on your body and mind.

Proficiency with a Longbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
