Wondrous Item, unknown rarity

This bright, slightly oversized raincoat seems to have once been enchanted with powerful weather-manipulating magic, but over time (and likely misuse), the enchantment became... unpredictable. The coat still exudes a faint magical hum, and every time it is worn, the weather shifts dramatically—but never in a way that's particularly useful to the wearer.

Effect: While wearing the Yellow Raincoat of Unhelpful Weather Control, the user can cause the weather in a 1-mile radius to change once per long rest. However, the specific weather change is random and often inconvenient, as rolled on the following table.

Random Weather Table (1d8)

  1. Sudden Fog
Thick, dense fog rolls in, reducing visibility to 10 feet. Allies struggle to see each other, and travel becomes slow and confusing.

  2. Unseasonable Heatwave
The temperature spikes dramatically, reaching uncomfortable levels. Everyone is drenched in sweat, and creatures suffer exhaustion on failed Constitution saves.

  3. Constant Drizzle
A persistent, cold drizzle begins, soaking everyone to the bone. Visibility and dexterity checks for delicate tasks are slightly impaired, and everyone’s mood dampens.

  4. Mini-Tornado
A swirling, chaotic mini-tornado spins nearby. It doesn’t cause serious damage, but items get blown away, and creatures must make Strength checks to avoid being knocked over.

  5. Snowstorm
An unexpected flurry of snow falls, blanketing the ground in a thick layer. Movement becomes difficult, and cold damage becomes a concern.

  6. Flash of Sunlight
The sun shines brighter than usual, blinding anyone not wearing protective gear for 1d4 rounds. Creatures suffer disadvantage on attack rolls or perception checks due to the intense light.

  7. Thunderstorm (But No Rain)
Thunder rumbles ominously, and lightning flashes in the sky, but not a drop of rain falls. The noise is distracting, making it hard to hear, but no useful precipitation follows.

  8. Random Wind Shift
The wind begins blowing in random, unpredictable directions. Any ranged attacks or projectiles are heavily penalized, and smaller creatures are pushed off balance.
