Wondrous Item, rare

These ethereal handwraps once adorned the hands of Expositor Nicholas Brightwood, a monk whose mastery over both physical and spiritual winds inspired legends. Woven from enchanted silk and threads of elemental air, the wrappings carry the lingering whispers of Brightwood’s final journey, where he channeled the winds to devastating effect.

The Wraps of the Howling Wind enhance the wearer’s strikes with forceful winds, enabling them to manipulate their enemies and the battlefield with every blow.

  • Forceful Strikes: When you hit with an unarmed strike, you gain a +1 bonus to the attack roll and the target takes an additional 1d4 force damage as the winds around your fists explode outward.
  • Zephyr Thrust: After you hit a creature with an unarmed strike, once per round you can channel the winds to attempt to knock them back. The target must succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC 15) or be pushed 15 feet away from you. Creatures of Large size or smaller can also be knocked prone if they fail the saving throw by 5 or more.
  • Whirlwind Guard: When a creature makes a melee attack against you, you can use your reaction to create a swirling gust of wind, imposing disadvantage on the attack roll. You can use this ability twice per short rest.
  • Breath of the Storm: While wearing these handwraps, you can hold your breath indefinitely and are immune to effects that rely on breathing, as the winds around you sustain your lungs.

Notes: Bonus: Unarmed Attacks
