This Shawl, found wrapped around the buried Babe, had the power to preserve the Babe in death due to its mother's love. 

More generally: the Shawl can be laid by a Cleric upon someone making Death Saving Throws and works as a Spare the Dying Spell while it rests on them, Stabilising them (that person will regain 1hp in 1d4 hours - per Stable rules). 

If merely in the possession of a Cleric who has been brought to 0hp it will give advantage on Death Saving Throws. - or placed on a 0hp person by a Cleric -  

If a person who has had the Shawl laid upon them or is in possession of the Shawl is at 0hp and takes damage (which would normally restart the Death Saves), the Shawl must make a Saving Throw (DC14) or equal to 8 + the damage taken (whichever is higher) or else be destroyed.
