Weapon (longsword), artifact (requires attunement by a creature of exceptional destiny)

"It is done."

"It should not be."

"And yet, it is."

"The planes have long existed in harmony, bound by their own nature, their own laws. Each separate, yet whole. This blade... This blade binds them all. It is no mere weapon, it is the tether, the axis, the first and final convergence. With its creation, the planes will never again be as they were."

"And that is why it was inevitable."

"Nothing is inevitable. Even you have limits."

"You misunderstand. I did not weave this moment. Nor did the gods, nor the primordia. This was not an act of divine will, nor cosmic design. The planes themselves demanded it. Existence required an anchor, a balance against the forces that would see all undone. The Material Plane was the answer, and this blade its foundation stone."

"And if it falls?"

"Then the balance collapses. The planes fracture, unanchored. Without the Material Plane to bridge existence, the great cycle will end. The Outer Planes will turn inward, warring until nothing remains. The Inner Planes will spiral into oblivion, elements consuming themselves in ceaseless ruin. There will be no weave, no foundation. Only the first silence, the emptiness before all things."

"A dangerous gamble."

World Shaper was crafted from the primordial forces of the Inner Planes, tempered in the discordance of the Outer Planes, and stabilized by the transitive planes. It is a relic of existence itself, and should it ever be destroyed, the Material Plane would collapse. World Shaper is a longsword of breathtaking beauty, crafted from a material that seems almost prismatic, shifting colors across all spectrums. The blade's edges shimmer between solidity and translucence, while its swept-hilt guard is formed of intertwining metals that resemble the dance of elemental forces. The sword hums faintly with a sound that seems to be the whisper of creation itself.

The wielder may choose to deal force damage, radiant damage, or necrotic damage instead of slashing damage.

Sentience: World Shaper is sentient (Intelligence 30, Wisdom 30, Charisma 30) and communicates telepathically with its wielder. It has truesight 500 ft. and understands all languages. It is ancient, composed, and deeply wise, carrying the weight of all existence within its consciousness. It does not speak in simple words but rather in concepts, emotions, and cosmic truths, manifesting in the wielder’s mind like an echo of the universe itself. When it does speak in words, its voice is layered, as though multiple beings across time and space are speaking at once. It is neither kind nor cruel, merely a guardian of balance and a silent observer of history.

World Shaper rarely offers direct guidance but instead presents riddles, parables, or visions of possible futures. It seeks to shape its wielder, nudging them toward paths that maintain the harmony of existence. Those who wield it for too long may begin to see the world differently, not as mortals do, but as an intricate weave of energy and form, constantly shifting. Unlike many sentient artifacts, World Shaper has no interest in conquering, dominating, or enforcing a singular vision. It merely ensures that existence continues and that those who wield it walk their own path, though always with awareness of the consequences.

If World Shaper is threatened to the point, it believes it may be destroyed, it will do whatever it needs to do to survive. Even if it means un-attuning to its wielder or summoning beings from across the planes such as celestials or primordia.

Shape Reality. As an action, the wielder may alter reality within a 30-foot radius sphere around them for 1 minute, as per the Wish spell but with a limited scope. This allows the wielder to:

  • Transmute matter (stone to gold, water to acid, etc.).
  • Shift terrain within the area.
  • Summon minor extraplanar creatures or hazards.
  • Change weather conditions instantly.
  • Modify gravity (lighten, strengthen, or invert within the radius).

This ability can be used once per long rest.

Planar Resonance. The wielder of World Shaper is in tune with all planes of existence, granting the following benefits:

  • Elemental Infusion: When dealing damage, the wielder may choose to imbue their strike with fire damage, cold damage, thunder damage, acid damage, lightning damage, poison damageor psychic damage. Dealing an extra 4d6 of the chosen damage.
  • Phase Walk: As a bonus action, the wielder may shift between the Material, Ethereal, Shadowfell, or Feywild for 1 minute. While shifted, they gain resistance to all damage except psychic damage and can move through solid objects. This ability can be used once per short or long rest.
  • Eyes of Creation: The wielder permanently gains truesight 120 ft. and can see into the Ethereal Plane.

World Shaper has three legendary actions, which it can use at the end of any creature’s turn, regaining spent actions at the start of its wielder’s turn.

  • Echo of Creation (Costs 1 Action). The sword sends out a pulse of planar energy in a 20-foot radius. Each creature of the wielder’s choice must succeed on a DC 20 Constitution saving throw or be affected by a random planar effect (such as turning partially into stone, becoming wreathed in fire, or having your personal gravity altered).

  • Cleansing Arc (Costs 2 Actions). The wielder makes an attack that, upon hitting, releases a planar burst. This deals an additional 4d12 force damage and dispels any magical effects of 7th level or lower within 20 feet of the target.

  • Fracture Reality (Costs 3 Actions). The wielder strikes the ground, sending out a 60-foot wave of unstable planar energy. Creatures in the area must make a DC 22 Dexterity saving throw or be banished to a random plane for 1 minute.

While wielding World Shaper, the user is bound to the Material Plane’s existence. If they willingly attempt to harm the fabric of reality, or allow the blade to fall into unworthy hands, they must succeed on a DC 25 Wisdom saving throw or be erased from existence, their essence lost to the void between planes.

As long as World Shaper exists, the Material Plane remains stable. If the sword is ever destroyed or removed from the multiverse, the Material Plane will begin to unravel over the course of 7 days, with entire regions collapsing into the void of unformed chaos.

To destroy World Shaper is to undo the foundation of existence itself, an act so catastrophic that few beings in the multiverse would dare attempt it. The blade cannot be broken by mortal means, nor can it be unmade by any force of a single plane. Instead, its destruction requires a convergence of entropy, chaos, and oblivion. First, the sword must be bathed in the unraveled essence of the Inner Planes, forged anew in the heart of an Elemental Maelstrom where all elements collapse into nothingness. Then, it must be struck simultaneously by the paradox of the Outer Planes, a force of absolute law and another of pure chaos, annihilating its form in conceptual discord. Finally, the remnants must be cast into the void beyond the multiverse, where neither gods nor time hold dominion.

Proficiency with a Longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Sap. If you hit a creature with this weapon, that creature has Disadvantage on its next attack roll before the start of your next turn.
