Zinzerena’s Signet

This elegant, jet-black ring bears the mark of Zinzerena, the enigmatic drow goddess of deception and assassination. Its band is etched with flowing elvish script that shifts under moonlight, and three concealed venom spikes rest along the inner rim. When activated, these spikes extend outward, coating the wearer’s fingertips with deadly toxins.

Venom Spikes

The ring holds three doses of poison, each loaded into one of its hidden spikes. An unarmed strike delivers one of the poisons (wearer’s choice). The ring must be refilled manually with fresh poisons after all three are used.

1. Venom Fang  – The target takes 1d6 poison damage and must succeed on a DC 15 Constitution saving throw or be poisoned for 1 minute. They can repeat the save at the end of each of their turns.
2. Web of Shadows  – The target must make a DC 16 Constitution saving throw or be paralyzed for 2 turns. The target repeats the save at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on a success.
3. Whispering Fear – The target must make a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for 2 turns. While frightened, they perceive the assassin as a nightmarish entity. The target repeats the save at the end of each of its turns.

If the wearer surprises a creature with an attack using one of the ring’s poisons, the target has disadvantage on the saving throw to resist its effects

Refilling the Signet

Once all poisons are expended, the user must reload the ring with three new poisons. These can be standard poisons, alchemical mixtures, or rare venoms obtained through adventuring. The ring magically adapts any poison, allowing for creative combinations.

Notes: The wearer must conduct a silent ritual in complete darkness, lasting one hour. During this time, they must coat the ring's hidden venom spikes with three different poisons, binding them to the magic of the ring. The ritual is incomplete until the wearer stains the ring with fresh blood, either from a willing offering or an enemy slain with their own hands.
