Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d6 + 7) slashing damage.
Tail Spike. Ranged Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, range 100/200 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d6 + 7) piercing damage.
Hatred for Magic. Once per combat, if a spellcaster within 100 feet of the Violet Manticore begins to cast a spell with a noticeable verbal or somatic component, then the Violet Manticore can make one tail spike attack as a reaction. The spellcaster must succeed on a Constitution saving throw, or the spell will fail.
Description
A manticore has a vaguely humanoid head, the body of a lion, and the wings of a dragon. Its long tail ends in a cluster of deadly spikes that can impale prey at impressive range. The violet variety is know to lurk within shadows, waiting to ambush their chief prey: spellcasters.
