Cold as the Void. Creatures within 10 ft. of the void beast take 7 (2d6) cold damage at the start of their turn.

Grip of the Void. Creatures within 10 ft. of the void beast must make a Strength (Atheltics) check DC 16 when attempting to move away from it. A creature that fails this check cannot move further away than 10 ft from the void beast.

Substance Mimicry. The void beast can touch one of the following substances to gain the associated property.

Metal - Immunity to Slashing

Stone - Immunity to Piercing

Earth/Wood - Immunity to Bludgeoning

If at least half of the void beast is submerged in water, it becomes brittle and gains vulnerability to piercing, slashing and bludgeoning.

 

Actions

Multiattack.The void beast makes two attacks with its tentacles or one tenatacle and it's hurl ability. It can also use its head tentacles or extract brain.

Tentacle. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 15 (2d8 + 6) bludgeoning damage, and the target is grappled (escape DC 16) if it is a Large or smaller creature. Until the grapple ends, the void beast can't use this tentacle on another target. The void beast has two tentacles. It can grapple a 3rd creature using it's head tentacles.

Hurl. Ranged Weapon Attack using one grappled creature as ammunition: +10 to hit, range 20/60 ft., one target. Hit: 17 (3d6 + 6) bludgeoning damage.

Head Tentacles. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 15 (2d10 + 4) psychic damage. If the target is Large or smaller, it is grappled (escape DC 16) and must succeed on a DC 13 Intelligence saving throw or be stunned until this grapple ends.

Extract Brain. Melee Weapon Attack: +10 to hit, reach 5 ft., one incapacitated humanoid grappled by the void beast's head tenacles. Hit: The target takes 55 (10d10) piercing damage. If this damage reduces the target to 0 hit points, the mind flayer kills the target by extracting and devouring its brain.

Description

The void beast is an unholy meeting of a Mind Flayer and powers from the outer realms of pandemonium. The exact causes of the process aren't known, only speculated upon by the very few who have encountered such a beast and survived but one working theory is that the creatures of the outer realms and the Mind Flayers share common history or ancestry and are compatible for such meldings, unwanted though they might be by the illithids.

Upon commencing the transformation, this hulking brute breaks free of its colony, losing much of its mind in the process but what it loses in mental acuity it gains in sheer brute force. It grows to approximately 10-11 ft tall and its' arms turn to muscular tentacles with hard cartilaginous protrusions. The mouth tentacles grow in length and it still hungers for the minds of sentient creatures.

Such creatures are considered abominations to the elder brain of a mind flayer colony and are hunted with zeal only usually reserved for fledgling Neothelids.
